Saraki: Nigerians Actually Love Corruption But Pretend To Hate It by Eziachi: 3:43pm On Sep 18, 2015 |
Nigerians are their own worst enemies especially the so called masses who are supposed to be the main victims of corruption by politicians and civil servants. You now have a government through their actions and body language has empowered all agencies of the State to do what the law has empowered them to do but all you get was negative comments riddled with innuendos, conspiracy theories and abject stupidity. Why would I care if Saraki is being witchhunted for being corrupt? I said the same thing during OBJs period, that if you don't want to be witchhunted, please keep your nose clean and there will be nothing to witch hunt you with. The very first place a witch hunted victim want to be is the court. So how can you be running away from the court and also screaming witch hunting with the same breath? Innocent man supposed to love the court and not using one court to prevent self going to another court to defend self. In a true democratic climate, people willingly resign from their positions, so as to have all the time in the world to clear their name from any accusations. If Saraki is using a corrupt court injunction to stop self from appearing before another court of law, what right has he got making laws and for whom in particular? What again is the job of the court, if not to punish the guilty and set the innocent free? The judges that issues this injunctions stopping courts, police and other agencies from doing their jobs deserve to be stoned. Bill Clinton was a sitting president when prosecutor Kenneth Starr questioned him over Monica Lewinsky to established if he had prejured himself in an earlier investigation. Clinton did not say "am the president, I got immunity"or approached some corrupt judge to issue him immunity from being questioned by the authorities. What moral has Saraki got now asking any person or bodies to appear before any Senate investigative committee to answer questions, when he cannot himself? My worst anger are reserved for the idiotic conspiracy theorists going on about APC or Tinubu. When does the two controls the judiciary or the anti corrupt agencies? Wasn't Tinubu himself docked for operating a foreign account which he appeared and defended himself and the case was struck out for lack of merit? Why didn't Tinubu use his supposed almighty power then to prevent his own trial? Or use it to prevent Saraki being the Senate president? How can anyone be so daft and bereft? Some idiots are shouting "why now"? And my response to them is: why not now? Does crime has expiring date? 70 years after the 2nd world war, Nazi war criminals are still being caught and persecuted for their crimes. So why should a crime committed few years ago be declared as expired because everything in Nigeria is politically painted in black and white? Haha!! What does you Nigerians want? Do you love corruption or just pretend to hate it? If you hate corruption why do you always make excuses for criminals, irrespective of their positions, which they equally stole through all sorts of electoral malpractices? No one has ever said that a robber was being witch hunted by the police or his robbery crime has expired and asking police: "why now?". How many of you will support a robber that got injunction preventing the police from questioning or arresting him let alone prosecuting him in court? Or even preventing the court for summoning him for trial? But these guys are worse than normal armed robbers. What a country Nigeria and what a people!! A crooked or just a cursed people? 56 Likes 9 Shares |

I share your sentiments, Pa Eziachi. It is with some irony that I have watched various commentators ride shotgun in defence of corrupt members of my own extended family, even as I take an opposing stance, right here on NL. Now if the behaviour of these reprobates, to who few crumbs if any are thrown, does not signpost a local variant of Stockholm Syndrome; I really don't know what does 11 Likes 1 Share |

Very well articulated. Unfortunately, not all Nigerians are in that odious basket and I'm sure you know very well the folks ranting against the administration, the president and his anti corruption efforts. I'm glad you referenced Tinubu and his court trial by the last administration and below was what the Tribunal judge said about Tinubu's conduct... The tribunal chairman lauded Tinubu for making himself available throughout the trial, as he said it was not mandatory for the accused challenging jurisdiction of the court to appear before it. Even his kinfolks didn't cry or yell any kind of hunting, they let him handle his own business which he did on his own. With clean hands, there's no reason why you shouldn't make yourself available to the courts to clear your name and go on with your business. Our problem is criminals in power and lawless people making the same laws they don't and can not subscribe to. Sadly, this man is the most powerful lawmaker in Nigeria. What a shame.. 18 Likes 1 Share |

Eziachi:This is a very sensible write up, except the last 2 lines of course. If Saraki feels he is innocent why not appear in court and defend yourself? After all he is not the 1st senate president to be so arraigned. All this hiding behind dubious court injunctions will do him no good. This is a new era, an era of change 2 Likes |

ndcide:I cannot remember anyone that charged Buhari to court for forgery and he refused to appear or got and injunction to stop himself appearing to defend self. The same for Amaechi. Tinubu was charged and docked by this same court few years ago and he appeared in the dock and the trial later collapsed for lack of merit. On the other hand, only mindless political inspired person still believe that Buhari did not attend a secondary school. You need to wake up and leave politics to the politicians and make good use of your God given own intelligent and think for yourself, that's unless, you are one of them. 16 Likes |

Eziachi: Pa Eziachi, good day sir. In as much as I would concur with you on some points made, I think you're being a hypocrite. If my memory serves me right, what was your reaction on this same forum when Buhari was being accused of certificate forgery? You all said he was being hounded but today you're feeling different. Please stop pointing fingers and let Nigerians which you called accursed, express themselves in their hypocritical ways. 2 Likes |

well for all of you getting warmed up for a fight you are not part of, you better face your business and leave politics alone (except does been paid to fight online ) now, i just wonder, this whole saraki stuff is just like a chess game the only way sarki can win, is by changing tactic, the guy just dey do defense, where as, the best defense is offense, you are the SENATE PRESIDENT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD (at least for now ), your offense can be very weighty, go for it, if you know how to play your 'chess-politics' |

There is a very big difference between fighting corruption and eliminating the competition. RIght now what APC is doing is eliminating the competition 4 Likes |

good. The Nigerian state will be the better for it. a lot of possibilities abound. 1. Saraki gets convicted and gets forced to return some part or all of what he has illegally acquired. 2. Saraki decides to open a can of worms that nails some of his traducers and the CCB/CCT have to expand their offices to accommodate more crooks facing trials. 3. APC collapses and Tinubu's aspirations to god-fatherhood gets blown to smithereens 4. PMB's government is seeing as sending a strong message that it's no longer business as usual thereby making public officials become more circumspect about their official conduct (i'm not focusing on Orubebe) 5. Sensible and reasonably clean folks like Shehu Sani, Ogbonnaya Onu etc get to have space to shine However you choose to look at it, It's better for Nigeria For those worried about the timing, Tinubu left office in 2007 and was arraigned in 2012, 5 years after while Saraki left office as gov just 4 years ago. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Eziachi:I feel your anger bro. It is really a pity how the suffering masses that have over the years borne the brunt of executive profligacy and corruption form the first line of defence against anything that would put these criminals where they belong- in jail. Talk about a classic case of Stockholm syndrome. I always care less when these men fight dirty especially when it comes to who stole what- hell why should I care?? I've never been a beneficiary of their sleaze and will surely not throw my weight behind any of those greaseballs when they are caught with all five fingers in the cookie jar. To most of those faulting what is going on, it is simply about resisting anything that has the backing of the government/Buhari- it doesn't matter to whose benefit such actions would be- that, to them, is what opposition entails. Like I always say, anything short of Buhari's head on a spike would fall short of ap appeasing them. Too bad that wouldn't be happening anytime soon. Lalasticlala, you might wanna give this writeup a wider coverage. Thanks. 5 Likes |

warrior01:Am not a lawyer but accusing someone of something is different from charging someone for a crime. You and PDP, for political expediency accused Buhari of forgery. Neither INEC nor police or the government of the time charged him for any crime except on Twitter and Facebook. You can accused me of being a fool but it's not the same for you to charge me for being a fool. You are smart enough to know that. People should stop making excuses for charged corrupt individuals who are also using injunctions to stop themselves proving their innocence. 5 Likes |
