Prepare For Hard Times, APC Tells Osun Residents by adeakeem(m): 4:04am On Sep 20, 2015
The All progressive congress has advised the people of osun State to brace up for austerity measures as the only way out of the economic crisis facing the state.
The Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of
the APC in Osun State, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, gave this
advice in a statement made available to our
correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday, while
congratulating the labour unions and the state
government for finally resolving the salary impasse.
The APC attributed the economic crisis in the country
to the alleged 16-year misrule of the Peoples
Democratic Party-led Federal Government.
He said “This will take a lot of sacrifice and belt
tightening to fix. Every citizen must be prepared to
experience one form of austerity or the other in the
meantime if we are to expeditiously overcome the
damage done by the PDP to the nation’s economy.
Something has to give way for better things to
happen.
“It is not the government that will bear the brunt
alone, the people should be prepared to share in
making sacrifices, so that we can build a future for
our children.”
The ruling party in the state blamed the PDP for the
inability of the state to pay workers for many months,
saying the opposition party orchestrated the attacks
against the government to discredit it.
He said further, “Of the number of states in the
country where this same crisis persisted, it was only
in Osun that a satanic twist was orchestrated by the
PDP to magnify the sad event. This is because
desperate politicians murderously seeking power will
stop at nothing to exploit people’s misfortune for
their selfish political ambition.”
But the opposition party has said they would not stop
criticising the alleged maladministration of Governor
Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.
The Director of Media, Publicity and Strategy of the
PDP in Osun State, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, when
contacted by our correspondent, said the criticisms
against Aregbesola were more severe than in other
states because the governor was the only one
involved in reckless spending with impunity.
The PDP said the ruling party’s advice was a
confirmation that Aregbesola was planning to
retrench workers and to impose heavy taxes on the
people.
He said, “Rather than prove us wrong, the APC has
just corroborated our position that it has lost focus
and cannot bring smiles to the faces of the people
but hardship.
“It is sad that a government that promised workers
good welfare packages during campaign would
withhold their salaries for nine months and when
given bailout by the FG, would fix it in a bank and
embark on series of tactics to delay payment.
“We are aware of what hardship the party is
promising the people of the state and they are heavy
taxation, retrenchment, introduction of school fees
and further delay in salary p

good, so when NOI told Nigerians to prepare for hard times, gej was blamed. now it's osun, its pdp to be blamed. only tribal and gullible people would support this party called apc.

osun state is worse because oga rauf and his closest ally and mentor tinubu embezzled state resources and used state resources during elections. thank God that someone like fashola who can say a big NO to tinubu was in power in Lagos, if not Lagos would have been in ruins if someone like rauf was in charge.

everyday I see Lagos under ambode, fear grips me cause the man does not look courageous and disciplined like his predecessor.

Let me school you since it's obvious this is beyond you,

1.Osun State receives the 2nd least allocation.

2.Aregbesola did fantastic in his 1st term.

3.Osun was able to manage what she was getting before the crash in crude oil.

4.Aregbe embarked on some elephant projects with the erroneous confidence of allocation coming in.

5.Crude oil crashed, Jonathan & his band of bandits have finished the reserves, there was no way for the fed govt to continue giving same allocation.

6.Allocation reduced drastically,& banks were not giving him loans since osun has no major IGR to repay...

PDP was in charge when oil was trading at 140$ per barrel, please what is Tinubu's responsibility in this?

Yes,blame the PDP. Blame GEJ,but never for once blame your Aregbesola for mismanagement and financial recklessness. Never tell Osun government to look for ways to improve their IGR. No.
Your type make people feel Osun people deserve what they are experiencing presently.

IGR means internally generated revenue & it is realised in form of taxes of companies and citizens, signage fees, tenement rates, fines from citizen misdemeanours, land fees & charges etc..

You people are just unbelievable!! Have you ever been to Osun state, a state that barely has any resources, no real industry to tax,a state where the workforce are either in the ministry, LG or in the classroom....

You can go to Osun and consult for the govt on how it can be done without revolt & unrest lipsrsealed

The gold in Ilesa is presently being mined illegally.

u are very funny so u believe u have said something rational..
1) the crash in oil price affected almost all states why is osun worse.

2) who sent him to embark on elephant projects when he is aware of his states predicament and which reasonable and rational thinking leader would embark on projects to be financed by a fluid, erratic and non stable oil price. what a responsible leader dors is to obtain loan from banks which its payment percentage would be based on whatever comes from the fed. allocation. aregbesola is very cluless.

3) are e u saying that allocation was based on our reserves or based on amount received from oil sales.

finally allocation reduced drastically and banks refused to give him loans, the same rauf boasted that osun can survive without fed. allocation. fashola came in Lagos and made Lagos the highest IGR generating state in the country. what stop rauf from putting a proper taxable system in osun, or was it pdp that stopped him.

how would banks give him loan when it is obvious that the loans would be used for frivolous projects or diverted to pockets of his cronies.

tinubu's responsibility here is to guide and direct him properly to good governance since he is the father of good governance and not to join him in the looting.

.

I didn't want to respond initially cos you are arguing emotionally...

Do not compare teo things that are incomparable, kindly explain who & what should be TAXED in Osun??

The non existent industries, the poor civil servants or the old whose children are in far flung places...

IGR can only generated where it is available.

Fayose asked that people begin paying signage fees in just Ado Ekiti not even the small villaged, the small revolt made him put a quick stop to that idea before the love turns to hate overnight...

Let us stop abusing the word IGR.

ok .. I don't want this argument to continue. just don't blame pdp or Jonathan for rauf's failure.. osun is not the only state in Nigeria.
