It’s no more news that the All Progressive Congress, APC, Nigeria ruling party does not want Saraki as the senate President and will do everything to get him out.

Meanwhile the once almighty Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the self-acclaimed biggest party in Africa will do everything to have former governor of Kwara state, Dr. Bukola Saraki in its folds.
It does not matter to PDP if Saraki remains in APC and yet be loyal to the PDP just like Aminu Waziri Tambuwal did as speaker of House of Representatives in the last regime of PDP lead government under President Ebele Jonathan.

The Kwara state prince, eldest son of former Second Republic Senate Leader Olusola Saraki became the number one enemy of his party APC when he went against the will of his party to emerge senate president with support of the PDP and few loyalists in APC. It was not a big surprise when Saraki got all the support from PDP because he was a two time PDP governor in Kwara state and a serving senator before decamping to APC with former vice president Atiku Abubakar, 5 governors and other key members to join force with Buhari and Tinubu to defeat the incumbent president in the last general election.

Immediately after the last general elections, the South East of Nigeria (The Igbos) failed to elect a single senator from the APC. It was so unfortunate for the Igbos that Chris Ngige lost in his bid to return to the senate and might have been favoured to become the Senate President. A position that many political analysts believe had been zoned to this region. Saraki and other ranking senators from the North took advantage of the unsuccessful SE campaign to declare interests in becoming senate president.

Bukola Saraki and Ahmed Lawal became favorites with the later enjoying support from the party leadership. Unknown to many, defeating Lawal wasn’t an issue for Bukola because the name Lawal meant a loser to him just as he did to Mohammed Alabi Lawal, the former governor of Kwara state in the state gubernatorial election 12 years ago

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who pleaded not guilty to a 13-count charge of corruption and false declaration of assets at the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja, has said that he is being tried for alleged corruption because he is the senate president.

Many will agree with him not because they support corruption but because it is merely a witch-hunt by his political enemies, which has made him unwanted by APC and favored by PDP.
