President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday night met behind closed doors with the leadership of the National Assembly.

Principal officers of the two chambers were led into the meeting by Senate President Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

The meeting was held at the Conference Room of the First Lady Wing of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The legislators arrived at 8.45 pm for the meeting which commenced at 9.20pm.

Our correspondent reports that the deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, was absent at the meeting.

President Buhari arrived for the meeting at 9.15pm in company of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir David Lawal.

The lawmakers in attendance included Senate Leader Ali Ndume, Senate Deputy Leader Bala Ibn Na'Allah, Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio, Senate Minority Whip Philip Aduda, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun, House Leader Femi Gbajabiamila, among others.

A source hinted that the meeting was aimed at discussing how to foster a cordial relationship between the executive and the legislature.

The House of Representatives had last Wednesday passed a resolution mandating Speaker Dogara to intervene in the present challenges being faced by the Senate president.

The House had specifically resolved that its leadership meet with President Buhari with a view to politically resolve all outstanding issues relating to National Assembly in the interest of Nigerians.

Ekweremadu is fully aware the position does not belong to him. He is guilty concious.

His presence is a cankerworm that can not be accepted. Even Akpabio will give way minutes into the meeting when Saraki would want to prostrate for Baba to assist him beg Danladi and Hassan.

At, the beginning of the thread, the useless OP, insinuated that the absence of the deputy Senate President, pointed towards the fact that he was entertaining thoughts of defecting to the ruling party. And so I ask, why would he be absent at a meeting called by his purported new found friends, if he aims to please them all of a sudden. If, for anything, he would have been present to show his loyalty to them, in order to get into their good books. Every friend of the APC, was there, so why not him. This OP, is one of the millions of unintelligent and good for nothing youths, who never ever try to make good use of their brain.
