Hello! President Buhari and Military Top Brass need to start looking inward in putting an absolute end to the BH debacle. The factors surrounding the continue festering of BH problem can be reduced into the following:

1. Corruption in the appropriation and management of security votes :

This can be effectively managed by the Buhari-led-Presidency and incorruptible Military Chiefs in ensuring all approved funds are judiciously applied to purposes they were appropriated for.

2. Motivations for radicalization :

Motivations for radicalization can best be identified by the society where these insurgents were brought-up (not the West). For instance people have alluded to some religion teachings. There are also reports of forceful conscription. These motivations were built by the society and the society has all it takes to invalidate them.

3. Extreme poverty and youth redundancy :
A situation where the few stash Billions of public fund abroad while millions of commoners pander to the rich for daily meal is unacceptable. Borrowing from President Buhari's speech - "...we have been and still sitting on a gun of gun-powder..". There should be a deliberate effort to redistribute wealth, especially in the areas where the rich-to-poor ratio is extremely low. The super-rich are expected to show understanding for a more peaceful society by accepting higher taxes. The rich are also encouraged to get more involved in philanthropy that bring quality education to the downtrodden; affordable health-care to the aged; and vocational training for unemployed. Begging should be discouraged in our society.

4. Adoption of Modern communication and security system technology :

We should stop being shy of technology. Technologies improve efficiency, accuracy, and accountability. Interestingly, technology is always cheaper in the long-run in almost every sphere of human endeavor it is being applied.

For example it costs much less than N1 Million naira to secure and monitor a structure on a 2 plots of land with 11 surveillance cameras and alarms. And once this technology is installed the maintenance cost almost becomes picayune. With modern technology this hypothetical structure can be monitored, real-time, from anywhere in the world, even on mobile electronic gadgets. It means a concerned Dad with family in Lagos can monitor his family home from his mobile phone in Abuja or London. Intruders can be identified, alarms can auto-trigger, and security operatives can be auto-called.

This same structure would have required at least 6-human-force to monitor, as-a-matter-fact, inefficiently. These force need a place to sleep and unwind. They cannot have access to some areas technology can easily cover. They need sundry maintenance for fuel, collation and communication. They also have human-limitation to the force they can confront or identify if the structure is intruded. Any common human laxity from any member of the force can also compromise the entire human arrangement thing.

These types of technology are not as expensive as the number of human lives that will be saved with their adoption.
