This is why Saraki emergencies as Senate president was opposed initially by the APC Leaders. One thing I personally believe is that all Nigerian politician are corrupt but some are less corrupt, more corrupt and chronic corrupt. Saraki is a chronic unrepentant corrupt politician and the fears of him being charged to court for PDP to disgrace APC was the initial rejection of him (unfortunately the charges came from APC). Now they want to use their constitutional right to negotiate with the executive to secure protection for all the past corrupt activities, which was the initial motive of PDP Senators to rally support for Saraki.

But I believe Buhari should clearly get it that he was overwhelmingly voted for, for his stand against corruption (as over 70% of vote cast for are genuine against Jonathan whose over 50% of vote cast for his was fraud).

....
Where and how did you get those percentage and figures sir?

Don't get it twisted anybody can settle anybody!

Not with the manner in which he himself got elected....or have you forgotten that his victory had the PDP element involved....one thing I just don't like is the idea of trying to impeach the Deputy SP the man hasn't done any thing wrong

Mission Impossible
---------------------------------

Buhari gave them the "Mission Impossible" Response.

They asked him how they can profer a Political Solution to the Criminality perpetuated by Saraki.

Buhari knows that the ONLY way to REMOVE EkwereOlodu is by IMPEACHMENT.
Yet, he indirectly asked for it.
Of Course Buhari knows Saraki wouldn't do that.
Saraki wouldn't initiate an Impeachment Proceeding against his Paddy - Ekweremadu.
Who doesn't know that amongst us - Citizens.

Buhari tactfully sent both Dagora and Saraki on an ENDLESS MISSION.
A Mission-Impossible !!!!!

This is Buhari's way of telling Saraki & Dagora - NO POLITICAL SOLUTION !!!!!!

Even if Saraki was to pull it off (IF), Buhari still wouldn't mess up his integrity with Nigerians by saving Sarakis behind.
It would be too Obvious.
Buhari would outsmart Saraki any day any time.

A lot of Nigerians see this as a rift/war between Saraki and the Presidency. I see it as a war between Saraki and the rest of Nigeria. Saraki has proven to be a very arrogant person who must really feel he is above the law. More than 5 times in the past12 years he has been declared wanted by the Police (2013), called for interrogation by the EFCC, ICPC, indicted on charges of corruption ( Societe Generale and NIMB). He simply ignored the Police, ignored the anti-graft agencies and shunned the judiciary, even when PDP was in power. And nothing has happened in all these cases. He has always roamed the streets free.
Saraki must really feel he is the Queen of England, who in England is constitutionally regarded as above the law. Someone needs to tell Saraki he is not the Queen.

[quote author=seunmsg post=38806249]Saraki either finds a way to drop Ekweremadu and toe the party line or both of them goes down together. There is really no two way about this.

U make mi laf if the both of dem go down hu do YOU tink will lead the Senate its definately P D P. And dat will more tougher for A P C dan Saraki leading the Senate... If P D P are wise de av notin to lose.... And if A P C succeded in removing Saraki nd Ekweremadu de will b back were de started

But it was not wrong to have an APC Speaker of the HoR in a PDP government(who was elected as a member of the PDP in the first instance)

I just hope that Buhari will not allow himself to be dragged into a fight that he cannot finish. This matter is a bone in his throat that he has to manage well. He should find a way to work with these guys cos any attempt to upstage the apple cart will seriously injure his government(and it might not recover till 2019). Saraki is going to stand with the PDP and some renegade members of the APC till he goes down. And when he does, Buhari should forget about doing anything meaningful in his four- year term. Many of them are waiting for him declare an open war before they will go back to the trenches and fight dirty. They are politicians and have been doing this for years. He is not.

He should let the status quo be maintained and continue with his government and deliver the much needed change which is fast becoming a mirage. He has not sent any anti-corruption bill to the NASS that Saraki and Co opposed. Why say he cannot work with them?

Nigerians are watching Buhari, it won't be long before we figure him out and he will be demystified like Obj and others before him.

One other thing...

If the Legislature dabbles into the affairs and decide who leads the Executive, like the Executive do to them; how many impeachments do you think we will have before a term of four years expire?

Guess u started following politica when this transformation kids came on board.

Getting Bukola out does not require 2/3rd in this case. It requires him reaigning honourably when the heat gets to crescendo.

Or he will be senate president from jail ?

I am talking of Ekweremadu, did you even read the post before commenting?
Re: Dogara Fails To Settle Saraki, Presidency Rift by kay7: 11:54am On Oct 09, 2015
It was gathered that removing Ekweremadu was reportedly viewed by The Presidency as one of the possible political solutions to the heat generated by the trial of Saraki by Code of Conduct Tribunal for a an alleged false declaration of assets.

However, Saraki is said not to be disposed to the idea, arguing that he would not betray his deputy.

“The view of the Presidency is that the arrangement in the Senate whereby a PDP senator is the deputy president in an All Progressives Congress Party-led government is a misnomer, which should not be allowed.

“If there is a political option, this is one; the arrangement is not right,” a senior National Assembly official informed The PUNCH.

...he is disposed to the idea of betraying his party??

My sweetest part of the story is, Bubu doesn't give a fxck about ministers -- actually he prefers "without ministers".

Non-approval of the ministers works well with him.

Saraki shot himself in the foot for going into an alliance with pdp, thereby allotting the deputy S.P spot to Pdp.

He turned his back on his party's directive as well as the president's preference.

Now it's his turn. They have turned their backs on him. He has to reap what he has sown.

Buhari should clearly get this in clear statement that majority of Nigeria who voted him, vote for him because of his stand against corruption (as over 70% of vote cast for him are genuine Nigerian void of mass thumb printing or multiple voting unlike Jonathan's that have less than 50% of the valid vote cast for him genuine). Though one can only rigged where he/she is very popular. Buhari should not comprise his integrity just because of corrupt to-be Ministers.

Above all, I do not see how a Senate that the President is having pending corrupt related case in Court, Deputy Senate President with House Rule forgery cases hanging on his neck and several of his member has one case or the other, have the guts to be screening and considering corrupt related petitions of those to-be Ministers. This is just a joke of the 21st Century.

I pray that all these political crises should get quick solutions in the BEST RIGHT MEANS as this is affecting our dear country economic stability and investment opportunities.
