5 Fallacies About The 'Eros' Love by Rapmoney(m): 5:16pm On Oct 11, 2015
Please, read patiently...

Eros love is the romantic feeling that exists between a man and a woman. It is from Greek origin and it is characterized by sexual bond and physical attraction! Often times, we tend to confuse this type of love with Agape love. There is nothing unconditional about the eros love as unconditionality can only be ascribed to the Agape love which is divine wink. Below are some of the fallacies that abound in the eros love:

1)# Love is unconditional#: I would only believe that the 'divine' love of God is unconditional, not the eros! Eros love is tied to so many factors as can be clearly seen in our societies today. 'Love' is exhibited at its best today under very favourable conditions. These conditions are mostly sustained through the effective and efficient provision of the material things of this life!!! I am still proud to be part of the 'small' percentage of people on social media who think that money can grow and sustain love! Yes, it can!!! It is eros...it thrives and merries on beauty, elegance, social status and other forms of material things such as furnished houses and posh cars! wink. According to a Greek author, "Eros was the word often used to express sexual love or the feelings of arousal that are shared between people who are physically attracted to one another". Now, take note of the 'physical attraction' and 'sexual desire' wink. Do you still think this type of love is unconditional? That's why your parents and siblings would stand by you when you are down no matter what but your girlfriend/boyfriend would not!!! cool

2) #Love knows no class#: If you believe this, then you are wrong again! Love knows class...in fact, it has been knowing class since time immemorial. Do you think that there weren't the 'Dangotes' and the 'Otedolas' during our fore-fathers time who used their wealth to 'intimidate' the beautiful damsels from royal houses then? While the common yam farmers die in love? Or you want to be deceived by the unrealistic movies churned out regularly by our own Nollywood? Where a broke poor dude who does nothing will sit by the road side singing, only for the wealthy princess in the person of Ini Edo or Tonto Dike to see him and fall in love with him!!! Its surely a bunch of deceit!!! The eros love recognises class and a man must work very smart to attain the class of the type of woman he desires...it doesn't end in drooling over beautiful women such as models!!!

3) #Love is not selfish#: Yes, love is not selfish but that describes divine love (Agape), not the eros love. Eros love is selfish...in fact, a little bit more selfish! Whoever told you that there were Jack and Elizabeth in the sinking Titanic ship must have deceived you blue and black!!! cool. From experience and observation, I have come to understand that two lovers are naturally selfish as dictated by the type of love that exists between them. Why do you cheat on your partner when you have a romantic affair with them? Is it not to satisfy your personal or selfish desires? Even in marriage? As far as the eros is concerned, there's nothing like TRUE LOVE!!!

4) #Love is not all about money#: Another bunkum!!! From what we have seen so far, romantic love (eros) is sustained and pampered with money. Romance is fuelled by beautiful things and these things come in the form of material things which can only be gotten with money. Without money, romance is weak and hopeless, hanging on a cliff...sooner than later, quarrels and unnecessary excuses set in, then cheating becomes an option to satisfy that same personal and selfish desires!!! (See point 3) smiley

5)#Love is blind#: I guess this would be the answer former Lara Forte (now Lara Oshiomole) would give to us if we ask her why she married an old man (not handsome) after seeing all the tall, dark, handsome dudes with six-packs (even those that won't allow us to rest on Nairaland, showing us abdomen every minute!!! grin). Love can never be blind; it only seeks what complements it and in most cases, money does!

Divine love, which has manifested itself often times in our tradition and religious life is the real reason why most our parents succeeded in leading a fulfilled marital life, not the type that is fuelled by romantic desires and sexual attractions!!!

Happy Sunday to you all!!!
