It will be hideous of me to frown at the appointment of Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi into the Federal cabinet by the President. And it will be hypocritical of any one or group of persons to in any way try to pull the inclusion of the former Governor from the proposed appointment by smearing his person despite his contribution to his party (APC) which brought about its victory in the March 28 polls, as it it said, "no effort goes unrewarded". besides his contribution, it has not being proven by any competent court of law or anti- graft agency that He is in any way not qualified to be made a federal Minister for what ever reason.

Now responding to the thread " https://www.nairaland.com/2659833/amaechi-minister-niger-delta-egift"

It will be derogatory for the said person to be responsible for the said ministry even with a large proportion of the people from the zone against his inclusion in the federal cabinet.

why ministry of Niger Delta when there are many other portfolios which he can conviniently fit into?

why ministry of Niger Delta when we have other prominent Sons and Daughters from the zone who have proved their capabilty and trustworthiness? I will take the like of Mr Donald Duke, the erstwhile Governor of Cross River State, whom from past achievement and performance has proved that he is capable of delivering his duties.

why must it be Amaechi when we still have other states from the zone yet to be represented?

In as much as it will be seen as payback by the people of the zone for Amaechi to be made Minister of Niger Delta due to their 5% contribution to the partys' emergence, from experiences, certain positions should be given to persons whom it is trusted to get required support, co-operation and understanding to move the region forward and to avoid setbacks from opposition and the bereft.

I pray that (if all) Amechi go through senate screening, he should not be made the minister of Niger Delta cause there will be a rise of cult groups in Niger Delta particularly River State which Amechi will sponsor. This may happen if Wike win at the tribunal

There is nothing wrong with Amaechi being the ND minister. Anyone who's angry with that can do the needful by jumping in front of GEJ trains. If they don't like him as a minister for ND affairs, they wouldnt also like him even if he's made the minister for FCT. Besides, the ND Affairs ministry is a federal ministry and not a state or zonal ministry so it shouldn't be the business of the wailers in Rivers state who the FG decides to appoint. The people of the zone who are angry with Amaechi should stick with their governors and legislators who they elected.

OP, until you show valid proof that Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi is not competent enough to become the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, there is nothing to discuss.

In your post, all I can make out of it, is that you will prefer Duke to Amaechi and not that Amachi will not perform better than all the individuals who have headed that ministry.

So Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi as Minister of Niger Delta is very much on course. To God be the glory!
