According to news coming from Mercedes-Benz franchise representatives for Nigeria-Westar Associates, the automaker’s ultra luxurious sedan is coming to Nigeria.

This state-of-the art vehicle is a combination of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class’ perfections and the exclusivity of Maybach, there by assuming the top-of-the-range position according to them. This is a good development as it will eliminate the grey imports for the ultra luxurious sedan and also provide support for individuals who have the deep pockets to splurge on this office-on-wheels.

There is no doubt that the Maybach traditionally stands as a proud example of high-end automotive luxury. Now Weststar Associates Limited, the Authorised General Distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria, offers a Maybach that is a surprising new addition to the portfolio of S-Class Saloons-the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class!

This state-of-the art vehicle is a combination of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class’ perfections and the exclusivity of Maybach, thereby assuming the top-of-the-range position. Available at any of the authorised dealerships, the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class is 5453 mm long with a 3365 mm wheelbase, which makes it 20 cm larger in both dimensions than the S-Class Saloon with long wheelbase. Rear passengers will benefit from this increased size as well as from standard equipment that includes executive seats on both left and right and other exclusive details such as innovative voice amplification. In the rear, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is also the world’s quietest production Saloon car.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class combines stylish, effortless superiority with trend-setting exclusivity. The model has retained sweepy, domed-shaped rooflines from the S-Class but a number of exterior features have been adapted to take the Maybach to a new level of luxury. An extension between the C and B pillar makes the Maybach 207mm longer than the S-Class and increases the level of comfort. Inside of the newly transferred arch triangle is the double M engraving, which means from first glimpse you instantly know it’s a Maybach.

The architecture captures clear elegance creating the very best from the very best. From an exclusive look, the front centre arm rest is covered with Nappa leather upholstery which features embossed Maybach crests (and also the armrests in the rear in conjunction with the First-Class rear suite).

Another special feature in the dashboard is the analogue clock with an IWC design. The numbers and indicators are individually milled and applied, underlining the analogue clock’s exclusive design. Both the numbers and indicators are made of fine metal adding to the lavish interior.

The vehicle’s remarkable V8 biturbo engine has an output of 335Kw (455 hp), a maximum torque of 700 Nm available from 1800rpm, 207g/km C02 emissions, and perfect acceleration with a speed of 250 km/h.

Like all Mercedes-Benz, safety is always key. Therefore, there are a number of new assistance systems to make the car more seamless. The Intelligent Drive systems include PRE-SAFE®Brake with pedestrian detection, Stop & Go Pilot, Brake Assist BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and Night View Assist Plus. A lot more innovative safety features are available that are unique to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

Looking at some of the systems in closer detail, the standard rear end seats come with unique cushion airbags that are located under the seat upholstery.

The seatbelt buckle extender has an electric motor, which raises and lowers the buckles making it easier to move around the pelvis and thorax. From the rear, the seat belt buckle emerges from the upholstery when the back doors are opened making the usage easier. Overall the seat belt device has made it simpler to assist children or those who require assistance fastening their seat belts.

Likewise, to reduce the impact of injury, the car comes with a belt bag-which is an inflatable seat belt with an extra-soft belt strap edge. This received top marks in practical trials for being extremely comfortable to wear.

The Maybach also come with a range of exclusive options to be chosen from. An example standard sound system with ten loudspeakers including Frontbass system, of which the alternative is available, i.e. two very high-quality audio systems are available which were developed together with high-end audio specialist Burmester: The Burmester®high-end 3D surround sound system offers a unique optical and acoustic experience.

As a visual highlight, the tweeters in the mirror triangle of the driver’s door and their counterparts in the rear doors are particularly sophisticated in the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. They rotate through 360 degrees when the head unit is turned on, moving ten millimeters towards the passengers in a spiral motion. This movement aligns the tweeters to give the optimum sound impression. If the ambience lighting is switched on, the tweeters are illuminated in one of the seven available colours.

“The history of prestige vehicles made by Mercedes-Benz extends back to the earliest days of the motor car. We have now commenced a new chapter with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class,” points out Ola Källenius, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG/Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales.

”As an addition to the portfolio of S-Class saloons, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sets new standards in the luxury segment. The vehicle satisfies the very highest requirements in terms of exclusivity appointments and comfort. The Maybach S500 will be available from Weststar by the end of 2015.
