Olaiya Oni‎Former Minister of Education and the pioneer Ondo State Labour Party Chairman, Dr. Olaiya Oni is dead.

Oni died at the age of 74 today, after being hospitalized at undisclosed private hospital in Akure, the Ondo state.


Family sources said Oni had been battling with health challenges since 2012, which was one of the reasons he relocated from Akure to his home town, Ise-Akoko, Akoko North East local government area of the state.


It was gathered that the former minister’s health degenerated three days ago and he was rushed from Ise-Akoko to Akure before he gave up the ghost.

A former minister of education Olaiya Oni has died at the age of 72. He died today at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, Ondo state after an undisclosed ailment. Family sources say his body has been deposited at the morgue while preparation for his burial is ongoing. May his soul rest in peace Amen.
