seanpeters, tis happens to be a common challenge facing med.students. If your school uses cumulative assessment for medstudent which i believe they do then you would agree that your "cums" as we call it is very important.

Im my school, mb exam is 60% while semester tests, exam, assessments etc are just 40%. Wat ever u score in both adds up to your final score in mb, and more importantly, pass mark is 50%.

BUTTOM LINE: MB does not start d day time table for mb is published. Mb starts from the beginning of the semester and every test and prior exam counts and adds up to your performance. do your best to maintain as much high score as possible in all courses during the semester work such that you will require just a little more effort to add to mb.

Remain blessed

@Seanpeters What Danbasco said is very true. Continuous Assessment as we call it in my sch is very important. CA is 30% , while the main exam is 70% in my sch. You shud start preparing from day one. Do well in all your tests, submit assignments, make complete attendance, take practicals seriously, enhance your communication skills for viva, pray. Then you'll do well. Maybe distictions self.

danbas,
^^
your effort in starting this thread is well appreciated. My interest is rather in scholarships. I did Mobil2010, and my name came out- did/have you done it before? If yes, what is their terms/conditions with respect to medics- considering the fact that we don't use c.g.p.a ?

Buying all these books isn't necessary. You'd only need a few based on advice from senior colleagues and your lecturers' recommendations. And based on your understanding too.

Hi kadaka. Happy new year, have you gotten a fb account? Please post me your username. @OP, you can invite medics from facebook just do some searches and post the link to this thread on their walls. E.g of keywords 'Medicine Uniben', 'Mbbs Unilorin', 'Medical Lautech', 'teaching hospital Delta', ' doctors ABU', 'bayero medicine' etc there is no fixed rule about the keywords for searching, just be creative and you'll see the groups and pages. Hope that helps.

hi medics. Am hapi abt dis thread and quite optimistic about its survival cos we have had similar once like this buh dey end up wit no responses. Its our responsibilities to keep it alive and forgot d idea of bin too busy to post something.
Anyways, am a 300l med student of lautech.i dont beleive in read till i craze, i still know how to catch my fun. Abeg make una add a lil bit of flexin, no dulling, cos its very necessary. kiss
Re: Medical Student: Lets Meet. by Nobody: 9:55pm On Jan 04, 2011
@rill Exactly, cos we wud read forever even when practicing. So we shud be able to take care of ourselves while jacking. Infact, to me, an intelligent student is one who is able to balance every area of life well and still succeed.

I still remain impressed by the responses gotten on this thread, considering the fact that a similar step was taken in the past and it met with abysmal failure.
I've seen Medics all over Nigeria here who are above 1st MB. Having identified early preparation as a factor, what other factors could exist that could help us thrive? Your responses are highly appreciated.

I want to take this poser from a perspective. To me, they're two perspectives on why a Nigerian medical student would want to practice in Nigeria or outside. On one, I would practice in Nigeria, if and only if the system improves- that's if we have one at all. Outside that, I'd be banking ashores. By the way, I have some MBs to pass before thinking of this anyway.

My fellow medical students, pls I need your help! I just gained admission into O.O.U to study Medicine, but due to some reasons I want to cross(INTER UNIVERSITY TRANSFER) to University of Ibadan after my first year and I don't have any idea how to make this happen, not even how to get the form, 100 level CGPA required, connection required not to talk of when the processing normally commence. Pls no matter how insignificant what you know may seem try to contribute, it will go a long way to help me. May God reward you handsomely as you share. Thanks.
I believe you have to know the University rules and regulations concerning inter-university transfer and more specifically into the dept of Med&Surg. You may need to go to the school and find things out for yourself.
And btw- I think U-I- only admits graduates of para-medical disciplines into Med&Surg. 200level.
