Very true...and they are so many on this Nairaland. Worse is that they are very easy to spot. When you are half baked, it is very visible in everything you do.

If you are one, tell yourself the truth and start developing yourself. It is not too late.
I am one.....can you develop me?

You are an half-baked graduate if you dont know the difference between or even write Business Memo and Busines Letter not to talk or Business Plan and Business Proposal.

Majority of our graduate cant write one of them I can bet it. If you are a graduate and you can write a convincing one, please prove me wrong and you have a job.

You are a half-baked graduate if you passed through the university instead of the university passing through you. I have this friend of mine that recently graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo university. Though I am not a graduate but each time I visited the guy, he would be disturbing me with common spellings especially when is chatting with his gal friend. Little words that secondary school students will spell at ease, this guy will be asking me. The tin tire me.

You are a half-baked graduate if u can't balance an account as an accountancy graduate!

•You are a half-baked graduate if u don't know what a commercial bank is and u're a banking/finance graduate! undecided

Dear Rapmoney,

Kindly be aware that your points of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering are totally wrong!

You do not study those course to change engine oil or "common" lamp holder. It's a task anyone can lay their hands on. That sounds to me like "you study telecom Engineering but can't fix a broken phone"

But you're half baked Engineering grad if you don't know anything about safety. Let's start here.
You have a point, but OP is not totally wrong. As a graduate of Engineering/ Physics you ought to know the basics of science and technology, if as a graduate of elect. elect/Physics you can't identify live, neutral and earth wires/terminals, something must be wrong with you.

Ehn hen?

So what happened to "Introduction to Banking"?

The point I am trying to pass isn't about mentioning all the first year courses, but that_ knowing the definition of a commercial bank isn't a prerequisite to determining a "full-baked" Banking & Finance graduate, even if he/she is expected or should know it.
Banking is just a part of it all...

That's why I ended by saying "the course is different from the everyday banking practice"

you are a quarter baked graduate ..

1. when yu that claimed ur a graduate couldnt differentiate between a polytechnic n a university... seriously, I was forced to comment.
Nig. universities teach 95% theory n 5% practical. those who did engineering n are good in practical work learnt the trade somewhere else not in school... I read mechanical engineering Buh I learnt how to service engines somewhere else... so what tha hell is the poster saying?

2. when you can make use of the whole words in Oxford dictionary appropriately Buh yu dont know how to write ordinary application letter..

3. when you can speak English to any extent yet your mates use your native language to insult yu. ibos are mainly victims here... am an IBO n I live in pH... when yu see ikwerre pple, they communicate with their language likewise the Yoruba n hausas Buh when yu as an IBO see ur bro or sis,the first he/she tells yu is 'what's up' ....
I witnessed that too when I was in river state orientation camp.
This is the major reason why I see Biafra whatever as a big joke...it can never happen cos the ibos so much hate themselves.. nonsense..

The Ivory Tower is supposed to be a place where one is expected to be well-grounded with the ability to present oneself to the outside world in the best possible way. This is the same reason why people in the eastern parts of Nigeria refer to it as 'Mahadum' which literarily means 'Know it all'.

It is so pathetic to come to terms with the fact that the reverse is the case as can be seen in most graduates today in our society! Below are some signs to show that someone who passed through the Ivory Tower could still be a half-baked graduate! wink:

1) You can't apply the uses of the 8 Parts of Speech in speaking and writing. Some Engineering and Science graduates would tell you that this isn't important because these are not part of their course of study! What an unforgiveable fallacy!!! So what have you been doing during your primary and secondary school days? I know very well that 'Parts of Speech' is the foundation of English as far as the subject is concerned. So, it means you have not been serious all those years to learn the foundation of communication!!! Whether you like it or not, English is the lingua-franca in Nigeria and if you can't communicate fluently in it, you are a half-baked graduate!!!

2) You can't read beyond two pages of a book. Reading is basically one of the various ways of learning so if you can't read beyond two pages of a book, I seriously wonder how you managed to pass your courses in the university! There are graduates who complain frequently about a 20-line write-up being too lengthy to read...they are many on this forum! The truth is that you would definitely miss out on vital information if you have this character and you are no better than a half-baked graduate!!! Quote me if you like! cool

3) You studied Mechanical Engineering yet you still take your car to the mechanic workshop to change common engine oil and other little things!

4) You studied Elect/Elect, yet you can't even change as simple as a lamp holder in your house! You are a half-baked graduate!!!

5) You can't teach others! If you can't transfer the knowledge and skills you claimed to have acquired in school to others, it surely makes you a half-bakie!!! grin. If the 'illiterate' carpenter or welder can transfer his knowledge and skills to others, what stops you from doing same as an 'educated' person? Every graduate should have the ability to teach. You would be shocked when you see how some graduates of Political Science teach Government in the schools where they are undertaking their NYSC primary assignment! grin. Some don't even know the meaning of a constitution!

6) You are a half-baked graduate if you still lack confidence in conversing intelligently and creating relationships with fellow ambitious and enlightened graduates like you!!! Stop chasing small street girls that hawk one thing or the other and go for your class if you know you are 'good-to-go' grin

7) You are a half-baked graduate if you still cannot read and write efficiently! As funny as it sounds, some 'graduates' can't read and write as learned folks! Maybe, you need to be enrolled in Reception Class in a nursery school where you can learn the basics of reading and writing grin

8. You are a half-baked graduate if you cannot use Microsoft Word! We will forgive you if you don't know any other basics in ICT but not Microsoft Word!!! In this modern time? Who go type CV and edit for you?

9) You are a half-baked graduate if you still sit joblessly in beer parlours, enthusiastically discussing secret cult escapades you had in school while your mates are busy building their careers in Agip and Exxon Mobil!!!

10) You are a half-baked graduate if all you could do with your BlackBerry and Iphone6 is to download numerous porn movies and chat with random girls!!!

Peace! One love!!! cheesy

Nice piece.

Three little words you often see Are ARTICLES : a, an, and the . A NOUN 's the name of anything, As: school or garden , toy, or swing . ADJECTIVES tell the kind of noun, As: great, small, pretty, white, or brown. VERBS tell of something being done: To read, write, count, sing, jump, or run . How things are done the ADVERBS tell, As: slowly, quickly, badly, well. CONJUNCTIONS join the words together, As: men and women, wind or weather. The PREPOSITION stands before A noun as: in or through a door. The INTERJECTION shows surprise As: Oh, how pretty! Ah! how wise! The whole are called the PARTS of SPEECH , Which reading, writing, speaking teach.

You: What is a commercial bank? grin

Then you better make it easy for all your applicants, ask the Insurance graduate "what is premium?". tongue
