Rains Disturbed Edo For Seven Years, That’s Why We Didn’t Build Roads –oshiomole by theshadyexpress(m): 7:11am On Nov 13, 2015
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has given reasons why his administration did not build any industry in the state. Adams Oshiomhole said he never promised to build Industries during his campaign, That his campaign promise was to create the enabling environment for investments to thrive in the state.

It is a fact that no single industry was built in Edo State throughout the Seven years the Governor has been in office. He also accused his predecessors of building Industries to siphon money.

He named four industries; Fertilizer plant, Auchi; Cassavita Industry, Uromi; Chemical Plant; Ikpeshi; and Fruit Juice Factory, Ehor built by the previous administration, that all was built with second hand equipment and at inflated prices.

“The only value of these industries are the land spaces they occupy,”   “Our responsibility is to get the private sector build industries by creating the enabling environment and not to build any.” said Oshiomhole.

He  asked if anyone has ever drunk or bought any of these products, adding that his administration tried selling them (industries) but no buyer was willing to purchase because of their depreciating value.

He noted that the same previous government in their usual characteristic sold Okpella Cement with the intention to use it as a base for re-bagging of cement until he waded in, disclosing that very soon, Okpella Cement Industry would come back on stream through a private initiative.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole, however promised to leave for his successor, a robust revenue,he further said that in the past seven years of his administration, a lot of private initiatives have been built, giving the establishment of furniture company using bamboo at Anegbete as example because government was able to build roads in that area which in turn attracted that private company to the area.

Governor Oshiomhole further disclosed on Bendel Brewery, that the court case between Churchgate, who are the core investors and the company contributed to the stalling of progress and non-rehabilitation of the company. He however promised that with his negotiation with AMCON, assuredly that very soon, Bendel Brewery would back.

While speaking on the state of roads in the state especially Benin City, the governor promised mass rehabilitation of roads and the continuation of existing ones, saying that the reason for this was as a result of rains for seven years, which according to him was not conducive for road construction and rehabilitation.

“Now that the rains appear to have subsided and the dry season fast approaching, we have spoken with all the contractors working on our roads and they have been mobilized and would soon go back to site. This is in addition to the rapid response agency to patch up and resurface bad spots with the metropolis”.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole however promised that in the next 12 months, all projects initiated by his administration would be completed, leaving none behind.

I now strongly believe that a curse have been placed on every seat of government in this country.

Imagine the former labor leader, he has just proven the fact that power truly corrupts absolutely.

Complaining people are irresponsible people. It is only in our country that so called RULERS give excuses for not doing the right thing. Adams is a shame to Edo state. He does not deserve a second time.

You did not read The Gov's Post hence your sudden poor remark and shallow mindedness visible in your comments.

Oshiomole gave credible and clear reasons explaining the current state of development and its progress in Edo state. He was right when he said, "Our responsibility is to get the private sector build industries by creating the enabling environment and not to build any'. Government should provide the enabling environment for foreign investors to build industries that will benefit the host state and on the long run the state government.

If you live in Edo state when Lucky was Governor you will give credit to the level of development Edo state is currently enjoying under Oshiomole.

Think before you comment in your case the latter was before the former.

for 8 years, the best igbenedion could do for egor residents as regards road was to commission a road built with CLAY SOIL and cemented with CHARCOAL...those of us that ply the ''Textile mill road-Teachers house-Egor market route''still remember the hardship faced by commuters during the hellish reign of igbenedion government...based on the current state of the road now,i will say EGOR residents made one of the best decisions of their lives by voting out the devilish party called PDP..i made a decision early this year that the only condition in which i wld vote APC come 2016 in EDO state,is if SILUKO ROAD, EGOR market road was completed before the next general election..,the governor yesterday assured us that the road will be completed and commissioned by February 2016.once that road is commissioned,PDP IN EDO STATE CAN GO CHEW BRICKS as far as my vote is concerned..

With the high taxation,no private sector will want to invest.

Please dont compare Nigeria to Uk and Usa,where their govts are actually working.
Secondly the money Oshiomiole has recieved,Lucky Igbenedion did not get 1/3 of that.
Oshiomiole has borrowed billions, got refunded for all the federal roads he did in its first term, plus high taxes, and also the money he was getting from
Sure-p during Gej administration,etc

How ever the government in these countries did not fall from heaven that started rough until everything became smooth and orderly. and someone had to take the bull by the horn. do you know how these countries where in the developmental face of their country and economies.

If oshiomiole has received more money as you claim more than Lucky Igbenedion is it plausible that Lucky Igbenedion should embezzle the money after all if Lucky Igbenedion had done something tangled for Oshiomiole to build on Edo state would not be in this mess in the first place.

How much did GEJ administration give through sure-p to Edo state that was enough to even pay teachers and government workers not to even build roads and other basic amenities

Am not saying that Oshomiole did not work.He tried in his first term. But this second term have been a chop and clean mouth government.
What did Oshomiole do with the 75 million dollars he borrowed?
For the past 7 years Oshomiole have not completed central hospital, yet Lucky igbenedion administration established stella obasanjo hospital.
