In fulfillment of its promise to improve
education standard in Osun State, the
state government yesterday commenced
another round of distribution of tablets of
Knowledge, popularly called ‘Opon Imo’
to students in public high schools across
the state.
Kicking off the distribution of the tablets
to 29, 000 students in the state at the
Adventist High School, Ede, the deputy
governor, Mrs Titilaoye Tomori, said
despite all odds, the government is
committed to quality education for
students in the state.
The deputy governor who is also the
state commissioner for education warned
students against mishandling the tablets,
saying any student who spoils the
gadget will face the consequence.
Laoye-Tomori, who was represented by
the permanent secretary, Ministry of
Education, Mr. Lawrence Oyeniran
explained that teachers have been
tutored on how to operate the tablets.
According to her, the previous gadgets
given to students were recalled last year
for upgrading and repair as the case may
be.
In his remarks, the principal, Adventist
High School, Ede, Mr Anthony Ojo, said
distribution of the tablets had made
teaching and learning easier and also
improved students’ performance in their
examinations.
In separate chats, two of the recipients,
commended the state government for the
gesture, saying having the gadgets would
enable them to be more committed to
