A very late advice. Any world leader would ignore that.

See, had it been this advice came when Boko Haram were in their early stage of the insurgency, it could make sense. Terrorism today is like running a company, there is more involved than what we see on the surface. And Boko Hararm now like ISIS is difficult to handle.

The best approach is not dialogue but a total WAR ON TERRORISM!

Immediately after 9/11, fingers were pointed, people were arrested, security was beefed up, ideas were debated on how to curb terrorism so that never again should this happen on a US soil.

In Nigeria, we talked, we argued, we blamed, we gave warnings... yet, those who were arrested and brought before the courts maneuvered the processes so as to linger judgement, those who were supposed to be arrested are still moving freely, places were we ought to have beefed up security still allowed bombs to hit them not twice, we are still giving warnings, instead of equipping the military, one man is making money on supposed funds for the army, etc. We are still not ready as a nation to combat terrorism whether by War or by dialogue.

The Cardinal is spot on. I've said it in many different ways in this forum. This war is only about 20pc military and 80pc political. The only thing he's left out is the importance of international support. Among other things, there's no way Boko Haram can be stopped while funds are flowing incessantly from abroad.

I once believed that there is nothing dialogue can not solve until I started hearing about terrorism. Terrorism can only be solved with greater and opposing force, the choice of cruelty as opposition to terrorism is not wickedness. Terrorist don't understand civility.

should do to stop the deadly Boko Haram insurgency.
The prominent cleric has advised the incumbent

name of some religion, calling the name of God.
“But we must find a way of letting them (Boko Haram
members) know that this is not what God wants.
“I personally do not know how to achieve this but I
believe that a lot still needs to be done.
“When you (government) reply fire for fire I am afraid it
does not solve the problem.

“So, apart from military tactics there is need for more
effort as political discussion, reaching out to people.
“Even the terrorists are human beings born of a woman
with feelings. I am sure somebody somewhere can talk
to them.”
During the presidential campaign Buhari pledged not to
hold talks with the terrorists if chosen as president.
Meanwhile, in a BBC interview several months ago the
president has welcomed talks with Boko Haram
insurgents.

The last ceasefire agreement between the militants and
Nigerian government in October 2014 has failed when
the Boko Haram sect rejected that they had agreed to a
ceasefire with Goodluck Jonathan’s government.
Negotiations with the insurgents in recent years have
failed to achieve a peace deal, partly because it has
several rival factions.
