Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the sultan of Sokoto has expressed worry over the growing agitation for an independent Biafra state championed by some Igbo people and promised that a delegation from the northern traditional council will be sent to Igbo leaders to meet on the issue.

The reports informs that the sultan raised this concern at the second general assembly of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council which held in Kaduna on Monday, November 23.

The Sultan who is the chairman of the council noted that there were millions of Igbo people living and doing business in their states peacefully and helping the economy to grow. He said millions of Igbo people were against the agitation for an independent state and that a delegation would be sent so that peace would reign.

“We are very much concerned about this issue because we know we have millions of millions of Igbos residing with us in our homes, in our towns, in our states, very peacefully, very industrious, helping our communities and our economy to grow and so many of them as we know, keep telling us that they have nowhere else to live than where they are presently living.

“Since we have this coordination with millions and millions of them, what is happening now is a thing of concern to us and we believe we should look at this issue and most likely set up a small committee of senior traditional rulers to go to South-East and engage our brothers there (traditional rulers) so that we will know how we can come in to stop this agitation.”

He applauded Igbo leaders who were against the separation and that the agitation must be totally condemned.

He said: “We believe in dialogue, whatever the problem is with anybody, we believe we should sit down and discuss and a solution will be found.”

Meanwhile, Chief Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party has warned that it will be disastrous for Nigeria to experience another civil war noting that no country had ever survived two civil wars.

ON NNAMDI KALU

The longer Nnamdi Kanu is kept out of circulation, the larger he will become in popular esteem. By being unjustly imprisoned, he is being made to walk a path walked by all the great revolutionaries of history. Every jab on him, every shove he is made to endure, is a direct and crude assault on freedom. At the moment, he is only but a prisoner of conscience, and a personable symbol of resistance. His message is timeless and of universal essence, and both history and destiny are his mistresses! His apotheosis is only but a matter of time, and then, Nnamdi's name shall be spoken with reverence and awe, so long as there exists the need to overcome the yoke of tyranny!

So much love for the Igbos... Even the northern leaders have shown time and again how much they care for the igbos, the igbo friends especially from sw on nairaland have been much in love with the igbos. Hmmm some have even had sleepless nights teaching the igbos. That is why they are scare to their bone marrows whenever they feel like they are about to lose them, with most even claiming to know the igbos more than they know theirselves. Ok oh i am just observing.

Per the bolded, someone should inform this dumbass Sultan that his concerns about Ndiigbo are utterly misplaced. For once in your miserable life, just say the truth. Please stop worrying about Ndiigbo and their your imaginary business because actualization of Biafra or Republic of Igbo land does not remotely indicated that Igbo peeps should not do business in your state. Nigerians are stationed everywhere on earth, including peeps from Sokoto, yet their hosts have never informed them not to partake in business because Nigeria is an independent state. What an idiotic stream of thought.

[size=14pt]My dear Sultan,
i think your delegation will achieve more if they were sent to Buhari to stop his anti-igbo agenda.

The agitation for Biafra had always been there, but with a tiny minority of people. Buhari simply convinced an overwhelming majority of Igbos that they aren't wanted in nigeria as citizens because they voted for his opponent in an election. Who has ever punished northerners for voting a fellow northerners in any election in nigeria?

As long as Igbos are treated as non-Nigerians and their area is discriminated against in the infrastructural development of Nigeria, nothing will stop Biafra from gaining its independence.
