Ever since Premium Times reported the story of some 105 soldiers missing following a Boko Haram attack on the military last week, I have watched in amazement how a set of people - who from their utterances are obviously not concerned about the soldiers - have recklessly tried to make a political capital out of the story. Below are some of facts that should make us believe if 105 were truly killed or not. 10 Likes

To find out that some Nigerians are sympathetic to Boko Haram to the point of hoping that soldiers (who unknown to them might even be from their home town) are killed just to score political point is alarming. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Nobody has also yet explained why soldiers killed in battle were wearing cardigan and winter coat, outfits usually worn by Nigerian army or police when they have to travel during the night in the kind of open trucks shown in the pics. -Op also made another point:AFP usually is d first to have info if sth like that happened because of its extensive contacts, even in terrorist groups, to garner publicity. -How come not one single relative of the claimed dead soldiers has come out to claim their loved one is still missing.Even when DSS lost officers at Arepo, some relatives got in touch with the press. 12 Likes 1 Share |

ALEBS:the way lai mohammed, buhari(an attack on bokoharam is an attack against muslims),tinubu, etc were sympathetic to the jihadist group when gej was the president. If bokoharam likes they can decimate as many muslims as possible,im still indifferent . 5 Likes 1 Share |

chigo931: That's the point. To you, everything is politics, human life means nothing to you as long as any calamity does not directly affect you. Interestingly, it's your kind that would quickly change their FB profile picture to french national flag when any attack occurs in France. 1 Like |

Until BH releases something mocking the NA as is their usual modus operandi, Unpatriotic Nigerians are free to postulate whatever they feel... It is impossible for the butthole to produce Chanel NO5, out of the fullness & the anguish of the mind & soul, the mouth speaketh & the fingers typeth..... Foreign Media who are better investigative reporters than the hacks we have here have nothing on this propaganda but trust the enemies within.. You see people popping up on twitter claiming to be "relatives" of said soldiers but produce evidence of familial relationship, they cannot.. Na siddon look mode we dey now... 2 Likes |

The west were involved in the propanganda to remove GEJ. The propanganda would start when buhari would stop acting their scripts. As per breaking times isnt it possible the army releases a counter statement to breaking times and cautions them with threat? 1 Like |

Tell this government and their sycophants to be truthful and transparent to Nigerians to avoid ridiculous suspicions. Secondly, Buhari should sign whistle blowers bill passed this June by the 7th Assembly. Why must everything about the regime be secretive. This folly made Nigerians wait for useless four months for ministerial list and another month for Mr President to assign portfolio to them. This Government has reduced its operations to what is obtainable from gossip columns, beer parlour joints and molue buses. The information coming out from them are unreliable. 1 Like |

By the wau Op, since you quoted Premium Times, here is another report by them on same issue and perhaps same news item you quoted:
@Op, Keep deceiving yourself! http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/193499-nigerian-army-officials-in-contradictory-claims-to-cover-up-battle-with-boko-haram-that-left-several-soldiers-missing.html |

idupaul: Isn't it funny you guys want us to believe that there is a cover-up, yet the military would display their bodies openly? |
Re: 105 Purportedly Killed Soldiers: Separating Facts From Fictions by PointB: 1:35pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
ALEBS: “We understand they were shocked that we got to know about the incident. We stand by our story, and we will provide further details as necessary.”- Premium Times. They simply foil the military's attempt to cover the loss. That's what journalist do, uncover and report! |
Re: 105 Purportedly Killed Soldiers: Separating Facts From Fictions by ALEBS(m): 1:37pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
PointB: Yes, the military did confirm later that there was indeed an attack. They never denied that. By the way, Premium Times never at any time claimed that any soldier died or was captured. Why is it convenient for you to believe the first report from Premium Times and then disregard a latter report from them? You're the one deceiving yourself here, hoping to hear of the death of the 'missing' soldiers and was disappointed that nothing of such happened. 1 Like |

Re: 105 Purportedly Killed Soldiers: Separating Facts From Fictions by PointB: 1:42pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
ALEBS: Either you can't read or you don't comprehend. Whichever the case, it's not helping you cause. Please take a deep breath, breath out, and read slowly:
So did the military deny the attack or not? And here's a belated confirmation of casualties: “The number of casualty and equipment lost as being circulated is not correct. The situation was unnecessarily blown beyond proportion to give terrorists the type of propaganda they desired,” he stated. |

ALEBS, I will tell you what is even more unconscionable: it is the same cut-the-baby-in-half brigade who still deny the Chibok Girls were ever taken, that are now lapping up the purported but yet unproven 'demise' of our troops. Without an iota of shame and clearly lacking the sort of compassion one would expect from concerned citizens, that lot wouldn't recognise irony - this side of the next lunar mission. PointB: You seem to be the one who can't comprehend here. The military admitted that there was an attack, but denied the magnitude of what was being portrayed in the media. How's that a contradiction? |
Re: 105 Purportedly Killed Soldiers: Separating Facts From Fictions by PointB: 1:49pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
ALEBS: So what's the magnitude of casualty? Why are they not providing it if it's not as high as claimed by reporters? |
Re: 105 Purportedly Killed Soldiers: Separating Facts From Fictions by maupe: 1:49pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
The OP made some valid points and there could be a case of over exaggerated facts, but one thing still remains clear. The fact that there was an attack on that division, some soldiers were killed in the assault, and an unknown number of corpses were buried by the military in secret. Even the military, has come out to testify on that. In the days ahead, we will know more about this bizarre story. |
Re: 105 Purportedly Killed Soldiers: Separating Facts From Fictions by PointB: 1:52pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
Also later on Thursday night, Mr. Usman, circulated another statement, describing the incident in Gudunbali as a “slight setback”. How many missing/dead gallant soldiers constitute a “slight setback”? |
Re: 105 Purportedly Killed Soldiers: Separating Facts From Fictions by ALEBS(m): 1:53pm On Nov 26, 2015 |
PointB: They did, but you guys already made up your minds on what you wanted to believe. They said some soldiers suffered injuries and were already being treated in the hospital. It was part of the Premium Times' report released latter but you guys wouldn't have any of that. |
