The Youth and Sports Minister Solomon Dalong, wednesday promised to confront corruption in sports administration. He made this vow at an impromptu, but no holds barred parley with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Abuja Chapter at the ongoing Week of the association.

Dalong, who was clad in a green socialist uniform complete with a red beret, inspired by the Late Burkinabe leader, Thomas Sankara, offered to be criticized as he was ready to open the lid on corrupt sports officers.

Nigerian campus cults aren't exactly like the Catholic Church or Nasfat or the Rotary Club. They kill people and everyone knows this for a fact. If a minister of the federal republic chooses to identify with them in his dressing that will create an image problem for the government. Saying they have not been banned is sophistry. Perceptions are important. Besides, these groups are not registered - they are SECRET societies and the law frowns on that. HURIWA is right.

HURIWA said it had no concrete evidence to link Dalong to the membership of any of the campus cults but expressed strong reservations that his choice of dressing in symbolism and tangible costumes closely related to what some of these dreaded groups wear was worryingly traumatic.


No evidence yet a call to the president to put him to order. Clowns!

I dont know if i'm thinking in isolation. This man in question does not belong to any military of para-military caucus wether now or in the time past, my question is what is the rationale behing this kind of outfit? This is a minister of federaral republic we are talking about, not a chairman of a garage(spear me the "freedom" sermon). These guys are supposed role models, what kind of role are they modelling? I can only see a gang of uncultured hooligans who capitalised on the electorates' naivity to seize the power.
