As the next stage for pro-Biafra and release Nnamdi Kanu demonstrations starts to gather momentum in Lagos, the Nigerian Army 81 Division has warned residents of Lagos State not to join such agitation for the creation of Biafra. Sounding the warning was the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Maj. Gen. Isidore Edet (from Akwa Ibom) also assured residents of Lagos that Lagos will be secured against Boko Haram attacks.

Isidore Henry Edet said:

Biafra agitators must desist from acts of violence
The army would do anything to protect the integrity and unity of Nigeria.
For those committing treasonable felony and arson, as well as wanton destruction of lives and property, we shall apply the Rules of Engagement to the letter
He hopes the army would not be called upon, but if such order is received he said the Rules of Engagement would be applied to the letter.
According to General Edet, “The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) vide Section 217 (2) (c) provides that the Armed Forces of Nigeria shall suppress insurrection and act in aid of civil authority to restore order when called upon to do so by the President, Commander-in-Chief”.
He also said, “This provision is reinforced by Section ( (1) and (3) of the Armed Forces Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, (LFN) 2004″.
“This presupposes that troops have to use necessary force to quell crisis resulting in deaths, injury and damage to property.”
“Any officer or soldier found aiding or abetting any act of arson, vandalism or unprofessional conduct, will be severely dealt with according to extant laws,’’

Army-

Speaking on Boko Haram Edet said,“We cannot disclose the details yet but we are working round the clock to ensure that Boko Haram does not find a safe haven in Lagos, the South-West or any part of the country.
“There is no cause for alarm and there is no need for alarm.”
He also said that , “People should not worry about the influx of terrorists into Lagos or the South-West. With the heat in the North-East, most of them have lost the will to fight and are relocating to other parts of the country where they take up jobs as construction workers”.
“But we have been arresting suspected Boko Haram leaders and their foot soldiers. We have been working with other security agencies and a lot of them have been arrested this past month.”

The Nigeria's ministry of defense should stop soldiers of any rank from issuing communiques and statements on matters they knew little about thereby embarrassing the country. The country is already a zoo and such posture should not be compounded by utterances made by certain dunces who should not have been in the army if not the quota system. Per the bolded, the word - insurrection has nothing to do with civil protest or agitation for self-determination which is encouraged by the Nigerian constitution. The defense ministry should stop any soldier from mouthing off and demand they must direct everything to armed forces director of information.

See them warning Igbo's to keep of there region, I was thinking we where one Nigeria before...its even ingrained in the subconsciousness of Nigerians that we aren't one and yet we deceive ourselves when we know the truth.

I see nothing wrong in people holding a peaceful protest. I wonder if the Nigerian military and co are just trained on how to take on civilians. This is a time for Nigeria to thread softly and treat its citizens with respect.

If some people on this thread can actually see and are wise they will note that the protest is a match for what we all in this country are going through in one way or the other and that's INJUSTICE and like fela said we rather suffer and smile.

If you stop the IPOB protest have in mind that with the way our leaders are going plus the increased suffering of the masses eg unemployment, starvation, insecurity, lack of social amenities etc..some monster worse than IPOB protest will come and it will tear this country apart and trample on its residue.
