Yesterday the world was thrown into shopping frenzy as family and friends thronged into their favourite online and offline shops to scout for goods at discounted offers, as it has been the norm for merchants to exhibit high volumes of goods at discounted prices every Black Friday of the year. As expected, this year’s Black Friday offered no much difference from what we used to observe in previous years Black Friday. Expectations were high as usual and many prospective shoppers bookmarked the date on their calendar for this year’s Black Friday, while some even kept vigil for the day. Down here, Jumia and Konga were the most visited online shopping stores as they offered flash sales at particular interval of time where certain goods were given up at half their normal prices. As the hullabaloos created by this year’s Black Friday lasted, many shoppers had their reservations, especially on their experiences on the Jumia and Konga platform. While few shoppers acknowledged that their fingers were fast enough to snap up some of the discounted goods at half the prices on Jumia and Konga as advertised, many of them were of the opinion that the whole activities were more of scams and debacles. Though on my own part, as this year’s Black Friday drew closer, I was not very much excited, maybe because of the not too good experience that I had in last year’s Black Friday, or maybe just to say that I was not in shopping mood. Now, 2015 Black Friday has come and gone; what next? I guess what will be in the mind of many now is Cyber Monday; off course upcoming Monday is regarded as Cyber Monday, a day where the discounted sales offers continues after Black Friday. For those that missed the opportunities and were unable to shop for their favourite items at discounted prices on Black Friday, Cyber Monday offers another day and opportunities to continue shopping at discounted rates. To some, Cyber Monday is the real day for them and that is the day they are looking up to for the commencement of their Xmas season shoppings. On your part, what do you make of this year’s Black Friday? Did you partake and were you able to acquire any items at highly discounted offer, or you are also of the opinion that Jumia and Konga were major scams of the event?
