Like Atila,the Hun scourge
It scorch-earthed the flourishing palms
Like the ancient dragon
Roaring in the bottom-less pit
It launched on the helpless
Gnashing and tearing all in its bloody path.

Like the Hiroshima mushroom
It serves death without borders
Aiming without sampling
Crippling the poor and the rich.
Multitudes have gone
Pined away by the armoured virus
Leaving behind lost infants
In countless unpainted orphanages.

It drew the first blood,second and third
Unchallenged,it dared Rambo to come to its party
Where death and tears are served as main courses.

When shall it end?
It is but for a time
Malaria once reigned as king

Killing at will defenseless children with toothless grin
And polio once ruled
Crippling boys and girls
With reckless abandon
Today,they are in their place
Their scalps tucked in the belt of human resilience.

Smile not,AIDS
And wipe that grin from your deathly face
Each day brings us nearer to your end
We have done it before
We will do it again
HIV-AIDS will become history.
