As reactions continue to trail Bayelsa state inconclusive election, the leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, has added his voice.

The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo has given Federal Government a 7-day ultimatum to hands off alleged plot to rig Bayelsa state gubernatorial election in Southern Ijaw local government area.

Vanguard reports that Asari-Dokubo, on Thursday, December 10, in a statement issued in Yenagoa, the state capital, gave the Federal Government a 7-day ultimatum to hands off alleged plot to rig the state’s gubernatorial election in Southern Ijaw local government area and make the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timipre Sylva the governor.

The ex-warlord who also accused the federal government and its agencies of partnering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the poll, warned that if they execute the plan, ex-militants would come back to the creeks to resume agitation as well as attack important oil installations.

He hinted that ex- agitators have already regrouped under a new formation known as the Reformed Ex-Agitators of the Niger Delta (REND) to lead the press in a democratic process to ascertain the election outcome.

“If by next week the Federal Government does not hands off from the Bayelsa polls by allowing the people to freely choose their leader but still interfering through the observed various guises and deception, then we would have no option than to return to the creeks to press for our rights as patriotic citizens being unduly oppressed and dehumanized all in the name of politics,” he said.

He also stated that the aforementioned group is angry at the role of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Southern Ijaw election, alleging that military personnel got direct instruction from President Muhammadu Buhari to make sure Sylva is declared the winner of the poll against the people’s wish.

“We have said it before that President Buhari is executing an anti-Ijaw agenda and his aim is to steal our God-given resources to rebuild the north destroyed by Boko Haram. That is why he is hell-bent on manipulating the electoral process in Bayelsa State and hand it over to the APC. They are exploiting Sylva’s greed and desperation for power and therefore using him to carry out their evil agenda. But we want them to know that this country will go up in flames if they try it. Boko Haram will be a child’s play if President Buhari and his APC think they can upturn the people’s mandate. It would be a grave injustice which can never stand. We are Ijaw people and we have never been conquered,” Asari-Dokubo said.

The former militant reiterated that following the results already announced by the INEC, Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had won 6 of the 7 local governments declared with a margin of 33,154 votes, hence had fulfilled the constitutional requirement of 2/3 spread and popular votes, aside the result of Southern Ijaw, which is the only local government remaining.

Dokubo-Asari, therefore, urged the federal government to ensure that the poll is conducted in a transparent process. He also stressed that his new group would be observing to see if the federal government will interferes in the process till next week, which will make them launch “a full scale agitation to save our people from modern day slavery of intimidation, oppression and dictators.”

Recently, Dokubo-Asari, a former Niger Delta militant leader accused President Muhammadu Buhari of closing his Facebook account.

Also, in a recent interview, the former militant leader said that President Buhari’s government has failed to meet the expectation of the people as it lacks any focus to reposition the nation
