In early day parliamentary motion was filed by MPs Tom Elliott and Danny Kinahan of the Ulster Unionist Party (UPP), ironically a party dedicated to preserving the territorial integrity of the UK.

The motion is that this “House recognises the calls for the independence of territories that constituted the Biafran republic.”

“The Biafran issue could be improved with the co-operation of the Nigerian government by offering a referendum; and urges the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to use its diplomatic strength to assist in the resolution of this matter.”

Elliott is a former British army officer who served during the conflict in Northern Ireland. He is a staunch opponent of Irish unification and gay rights and is a former leader of the UUP. He is married with two children.

The decision by the Supreme Council of Elders, of Indigenous People of Biafra, led by Eze Ozobu, to lobby the British Members of Parliament, is beginning to yield fruits.

Tom Elliott, an MP representing Fermanagh and South Tyrone, and Danny Kinahan, who represent South Antrim constituency, sponsored the motion. This came few weeks, after the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, said that the British Government would not support the Biafra agitation for self determination.

Tom Elliott, who is a member of Ulster Unionist Party, said:

The motion, which was titled ” Motion 808″ will be further discussed and debated after the Christmas break.

Reacting to the news, Gen. Joe Achuzia, the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Elders, of Indigenous People of Biafra, said that he wasn’t surprised. He urged all Biafra agitators to remain peaceful. ” There will be no more war, Biafra will be achieved through peaceful means. While we battle Nigeria in court, other diplomatic moves are being made to assert our rights for self determination, he added.

Placing a ban on Biafra related topics does not stop a thing. If this continues, then be ready for multiple posts. When a topic is posted here and it is closed or deleted, as many as those who read the post before it was closed should create another thread and post the same information. Imagine where the Mod deletes one post and next thing you see 7 new posts of same topic!! Place a ban on a nairalander and he creates 10 new identities! Let's see who gets tired.
I suggest whoever reads a topic should copy and save it. The link to the information should be saved also.
