That's a sad reality but I think complacency should be the major factor here and not competence when it comes to written grammar because well educated folks do use it wrongly. |

Exactly. It's very embarrassing reading write-ups from supposed tertiary students using am in place of I'm. With the proliferation of smartphones and the inclusion of QWERTY keyboards, one would have thought that the lads and lasses will write in a lucid and persipicuous manner. When reprimanded, one is told the trite statement of "English is not my mother's language" as if they were taught using pidgin language. P.S. SwiftKey keyboard and Sympe keyboards are on Playstore, they help. 1 Like |
