they should probably look into golf carts or some form of motorized transport to ease all these.

Exercise is good but should still be regulated or modified depending on context.

Yeah. I understand the exercise thing but when someone is bleeding heavily and you have to get blood products yourself from the bank a good distance away through all that protocol knowing also no treatment will be administered until payment is made another distance away in yet another direction then it can be a challenge. My take is that if the facilities - the hardware has to be like that, far flung, the protocols and procedures to getting medical attention/intervention - the software, should be streamlined and made user friendly. That's why in Nigeria pray not to have medical emergencies and where you can help it like child birth you've got to book well in advance or you are done.

These same pictures have been recycled many times.
Nigerians are st*upid indeed.

Lol.. . .have you just realized that? I now understand why the government refuse to invest in education. Who wants to invest in dullards? Anyway, let me teach you a trick. Based on what you've noticed about recycled topics you don't need to type comments or observations anymore. I just copy from my old comments and paste into so called "new topics". If the MODs are too lazy to vet topics why should i continue to give quality responses? I will also recycle my comments.

Ondo State Trauma and Surgical Centre

The Ondo State Trauma and Surgical Centre is located within the Medical Village in Ondo Town about 4 kilometers from the city of Akure and 116 kilometres from Benin.

It is a rapidly evolving surgical specialty based centre aimed at providing world-class tertiary comprehensive surgical services to the people of Ondo State, surrounding environs and Nigeria in General.

It is part of a comprehensive medical village, borne out of the desire of the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, to make specialized healthcare services readily available to the people of the state where they live, work and play and also to provide world-class, tertiary specialized surgical and emergency care which adheres to the best international practices within an integrated healthcare system.

The Medical Village also plays host to the Mother and Child Hospital, Kidney Care Centre, the Gani Fawehinmi Diagnostic Centre and the University of Medical Sciences (First of its kind in Africa). There is also a state-of-the-art emergency Communication Centre, a Histopathology and Forensic Centre which are yet to fully take off.

Ondo State Trauma and Surgical Centre commenced clinical and surgical services on 28thNovember 2013 with the following specialties; Orthopeadics and Trauma, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Anaesthesia and General surgery. It has since continued to improve and augment services, infrastructure and personnel to include Paediatric Surgery, Urology, Maxillo – facial Sugery and Opthalmology. The centre has carried out over 3000 surgeries as at November 2015.

It serves as a referral area for mainly the General Hospitals in Ondo State and parts of Osun, Ekiti and Edo State. It also receives referrals from across Nigeria and patients from other parts of the country.

The Ondo State Trauma and Surgical Centre runs 24hours emergency services in General Surgery, Burns, Plastic and reconstructive surgery, Orthopaedics and Trauma, Neurologic surgery, Paediatric surgery, Otorhinolaryngology, Anaesthesia, pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Radio diagnosis.

The Trauma Centre liaise closely with sister hospitals; Ondo State Kidney Care Centre, Gani Fawehinmi Diagnostic services and Mother and Child Hospital with which Mimiko Government constitute a Medical Village for ancillary support services including Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Radiology and Laboratory support.

It also runs out – patient surgical services and offer our patients elective day – case surgeries with efficient in – patient care, including oncology, endocrine, hepatobiliary, breast surgery, a special Burn Centre and intensive care.

To further strengthen the emergency medical services, the state government established Ondo State Emergency Medical Services Agency (ODEMSA) with the mandate to provide emergency  rescue, pre-hospital and hospital services to road crash victims in the state. 5 fully functional Accident Rescue Stations along the highways across Ondo state were built; Ore, Bolorunduro, Ilara, Owo and Oka-Akoko. 100 Extricators and 100 paramedics work 24hrs in all the stations and the response time to accident scenes is 15mins.  Each station has an Advanced Life Support Vehicle equipped with oxygen and other essentials needed sustain accident victims while they are being conveyed to the nearest hospital or the Trauma Center.

The Trauma Centre is not free unlike the Mother and Child Hospitals but it provides care before billing. In the African setting that is as good as being free

Gradually Nigeria will get there. It's just that some people are expecting magic to happen

We are the richest Black nation on earth.
We are the most populous Black nation on earth.
Yet we have some of the worst hospitals on the continent.
And we do not have a single university in the top 700 of the world's best universities.

And you think expressing frustration about the whole mess is unrealistic and expecting "magic"?

Really?

Hmmm, impressive. The problem is usually maintenance and continuity.

Beyond maintenance is the challenge of installing a customer care focus in government service. Have they provided housing and good salary conditions for the people manning these machines? Have they created a change management system that gets nurses and doctors to believe good customer care is in their own best interests? Finally, are the work flows customer centric or admin centric? Good equipment is no good in the hands of rude and inconsiderate staff. It's the software that is often the problem in Nigeria ( by which I mean - what goes on in between both ears) and not the hardware ( buildings and equiptment) if some of these have been done - then kudos to him.

I do wonder though

Re: Ondo Trauma & Surgical Centre Built By Mimiko (Photos) by anonimi: 9:42pm On Dec 25, 2015
I hope that Mimko also addressed the very basic of:

- education for ALL children resident in Ondo state.
- tap water.
- PRIMARY health care centres and GENERAL hospitals

to have a pool of skilled labour and quality environment for operating the SPECIALIST hospital to cater for ONLY complicated cases that should become fewer if the above three elements are already taken care of.

Sincere9gerian:
Tinubu Travels Abroad For Medical Treatment

The political horse-trading for the chairmanship of the recently constituted Board of Trustees (BoT) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has pitted prominent leaders of the party from the three geopolitical zones, South-west, North-central and North-west, against one another.

The consideration for the BoT top job comes in the wake of the rejection of its membership by the former interim Vice-Chairman of APC for the South-south zone, Chief Tom Ikimi, who from all indications has concluded plans to leave the party this week.

Among the leading contenders for the chairmanship post are the past interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Audu Ogbeh and Alhaji Kawo Baraje.

A top party source informed THISDAY that although consultations are ongoing among the leaders of the party to decide which of the zones will produce the BoT chairman, the strong consensus is in favour of either Akande or Ogbeh.

He said the issue could not be conclusively decided because of the absence at the meetings of some key members, including the former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, who is said to have gone abroad for medical treatment.

But the source went further to reveal that those who favour Akande have pushed forward his antecedents as the interim national chairman and how he was able to manage otherwise explosive issues such as the last national convention of the party.

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/akande-ogbeh-baraje-jostle-for-apc-bot-chair/187293/

Tinubu was governor of Lagos state for 8 years after which his anointed successor and incumbent governor took over.

Tinubu is the leader of the APC, the major opposition party in Nigeria, which is making mouth watery promises, including healthcare reforms, if elected in 2015.

One would have expected Tinubu and his gang to atleast show the PDP how it is done by transforming the Lagos healthcare system or was 14 years not enough for Tinubu's party to do the needful in Lagos state?

Since Tinubu and his gang now travel abroad for medical care, what is the fate of the over 20 million Lagosians?

What is obvious is that Tinubu and his party do not trust the Lagos healthcare system they claim to have transformed in 14 years.

dividing the states makes it seem like they are separate, that's sort of misinformation.

However, moving forward, Ekiti joined with parts of Kogi or Kwara might be theoretical, dunno.

I doubt the newer states will want to give up their autonomy though, they probably prefer their independence.
The fact is this states don't have any IGR they all depend fully on the funds received from FG which makes them a liability
