One of the biggest problems we have in our country today is the hypocritical nature of some of our compatriots on issues of national importance. From my observations, corruption, when it pertains PDP chieftains are normally blown out of proportion by the media and even pronounced them guilty without a court having a say on it yet. But the media will try to suppress it when APC chieftains are involved. This is bad for our country.

Corruption recognizes no party. APC and PDP supporters ply same bad roads, suffer same acute power shortage, poor health care, etc, all caused largely by corruption.

Corruption is everywhere in this country be it in Federal, States or LGAs. Take three States (Lagos, Rivers and Akwa Ibom) based on their higher averagely budgets proposal than others, for example. Based on available data, the cumulative budgets proposed, approved and spent from 2008-2015, (8 years) are : Lagos-#4.1 Trillion, Rivers-#3.4 Trillion and Akwa Ibom-#3.25 Trillion, apart from loan. These may not be too much to be budgeted and spent but they are huge figures.

Lagos did well due to its peculiar nature. The former Lagos State governor is a smart guy, intelligent, focused and visionary though I have some reservations. Akwa Ibom did very well too but most contracts were grossly and wickedly overinflated. Apart from salaries and other things, can you honestly believe what's on ground in Rivers State today justify spending #3.4tn on? Among these 3 States, Rivers has the least infrastructure in the periods under review. If you disagree, you can carry out a personal assessment of these states.

Activities of former Rivers and Akwa Ibom State governors should be investigated as well as those of Abia, Adamawa, Plateau and Kaduna. Anyone found to have corruptly enriched himself should be jailed, properties confiscated and ban from public office for life.

The media and youths should distance themselves from every corrupt element be it in APC, PDP or any other party because these people are murderers and are our greatest enemies. It will ultimately be to our benefit.
