Chevron Nigeria Limited and other oil
companies in the riverside areas of Delta
state are shutting down their operations on
Saturday after another wanton destruction
of oil facilities crippled a large portion of
production.
It was gathered that the major crude and
gas line to the Chevron Tank Farm in
Escravos were hit overnight by militants in
the wake of Government Ekpemupolo’s
face-off with the EFCC.
Although Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) denied
responsibility for the earlier attack on Friday
morning, source in the area and security
operatives believe that he is masterminding
the attacks.
The attack started hours after an arrest
order was issued on him by a Federal High
Court.
It was gathered that major assets of
Chevron and other indigenous oil firms in
the area were hit in the overnight attacks.
It was learnt that the gas line from Olero
creeks to Escravos were hit.
The main crude line from Makaraba through
Otunana, Abiteye and others were also
reportedly put out of operation by the
hoodlums.
As at the time of this report on Saturday
morning, it could not be ascertained if the
fire that erupted at Odidi pipeline after
Friday morning attack had been
extinguished.

If I was to advise the policy makers, I will suggest early amnesty for Tompolo by citing and enforcing the concept of “nolle prosequi” as inserted into the Nigerian Constitution.

“By this concept, the government has the power ‘to be unwilling to pursue’ and to stop any prosecution if it feels it may jeopardize national interest and stability,”

In as much as Tompolo can not be bigger than the country, i would urge the PMB led federal government to thread softly, they can't afford to start this kind of war with the militants at this time....

Using brute force rather than dialogue in the Niger Delta will spell doom for our fragile economy, it takes few dynamite to cripple our oil based economy, i hope PMB listens to the voice of reason and not those cheering him on to take the "brute force route" as regards Tompolo....

Buhari should please leave Tompolo and co alone, the Nigerian economy is already down.

Buhari should focus on reviving the Economy instead of chasing people up and down,.
