Why kill the snake?? The snake left his (not IT'S ) home in the morning and after its morning prayers (praying only for what to eat and to come back home safely) , you killed him (not it). Ask yourself why? The snake was not in your bedroom was it? You fell and the poor innocent snake still strolled away out of pity for your soul, yet you are not satisfied, you sha wanted it dead by all means. Now that you have killed him, hope you are happy
There's great enmity between man and the serpent as can be seen in the bible verse below, and I believe that answers your question:

Genesis 3:14-15
14.The Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, coursed are you above all creatures of the field! On your belly you will crawl
and dust you will eat all the days of your life.
15.And I will put hostility between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring; her offspring will attack your head, and you will attack her offspring's heel."

OP thank God for your life, the truth is snakes hardly attack unless they feel threatened. If you had run, Chai. You would have gotten like a 100 bites in 5 seconds, next time, a long plank is your best option, killing a snake with cutlass can put other peoples life in danger better still, just let it go lol or call animal advocates here on nairaland that always say, you shouldnt have killed it instead of you to catch it and take it to the zoo. grin cheesy grin

And some crazy minds and religious fanatics
believe I am now a Muslim. I'm not a Muslim. I
am a Christian and believe in Christ, but I
decided to write in Arabic. Arabic is the language
like English. lolz

Re: My Experience With The Cobra I Killed Yesterday by AFRICANDICEY: 9:01am On Jan 18, 2016
it is more effective to kill snake with stick (reasonable length) than cutlass.
Re: My Experience With The Cobra I Killed Yesterday by AFRICANDICEY: 9:07am On Jan 18, 2016
Next time use stick instead of cutlass.
