Ehen, na now u come. U know this is a more powerful phone than the m5. The problem though is it is already 3 years old... It's a 2013 flagship and that is why the price is like that. So do the maths, if they can sell a 2013 flagship for 39k, then u can imagine how much it would be should when it came out in 2013. Even a galaxy s4 is sold for less than 60k now compared to 100k plus in 2013.

What's my point? Flagship phones don't come cheap, if u want flagship specs u got to pay the bucks. Phantom 5 got flagship specs and the price is about right. What I'm not feeling about this gionee e7 is the plastic back.. Kinda ugly. Oh and this thing will probably not even get lollipop not to talk of marshmallow. Phantom 5 will get marshmallow guaranteed.

OK I may have exergerrated a bit, but u get my point. An iPhone would lose its value by about 20-30% after 3 years. An android phone on the other hand would lose its value by 30-50%. So u can imagine how much those gionee phones cost in 2013.

This post would have made lots of sense if op had mentioned about two xiaomi phones or even meizu metal

Accepted it is a little bit expensive, but u also have to put a few things in consideration. Tecno have outlets here, they have shops and customer care, unlike Xiaomi that rely on online shops here in Nigeria. They don't pay tax, no physical shops, no workers.

So have you used the c8 before?

I was at computer village Ikeja today and decided to check slot in order to have a physical feel of some of these top MTK phones maybe I could just get one because the hype is just getting too much. I stopped at Gionee's stand and saw the m3 mini, m5 and the S plus. I wasn't impressed after feeling the phones, especially the S plus. The phone is slim and beautiful, but the metal back is so wack, made of very poor shiny material that has already started peeling on the display unit. The display, though amoled is also a disappointment. Same thing goes with the M5, I held th M5 and it is heavy, the metal body is not properly built. Honestly I thought I would be blown away by these phone going by the hype but I was disappointed. They look good in pictures, but in reality they are cheaply built.. I just dropped them and went to tecno stand to check the Phantom 5.

Again, the metal body of the Phantom 5 is not what I expected going by the hype (maybe not what I'm used to). LG G3 has a plastic back but it is well built than the Gionee S plus, M5 and tecno Phantom 5. The G3 and G4 (the plastic ones) look a lot more premium than these Chinese phones, This is to show that Metal body doesn't necessarily mean premium feel. Anybody can build a phone with metal body, it is the finishing that matters. I must confess though that the tecno Phantom 5 still looks and feels more premium that all the Gionee phones I tested today.

Ha ha, u are very wrong bro. There are lots of premium phones that are not on gsmarena. I'll give u one example. Letv Le 1 pro. This phone kicks the sh*t out of everything gionee has every made. Just check out the spec sheet... This is a high end phone, not just a high end phone but a super phone

5.5 inch screen
13mp back camera, 4mp front camera
Screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, that's qhd with a whopping 534ppi (gionee what?)
Fingerprint sensor
4gb of RAM, 32/64gb internal storage
Octacore snaldragon 810 clocked at 2ghz.
4g LTE, USB type c, NFC, etc.

Now show me a phone in 2015 that will push this heavy hitter to the wall. Show me... And it is not in gsmarena. Don't let me even start with the Letv Le max, that one is a killah. Nobody will even bother to bring these phones to Nigeria because they are not cheap (have u ever seen premium that is cheap?). These phones are meant for people that understand the word premium and don't want to settle for popular brands like Samsung.

OP even tho i don't own a tecno device, what did say about the Phamtom 5? A failed project, i am seriously holding myself from dissing you, the phone stands tall and still sells, it's the phone most Xiomi, gionee, Infinix and Innjoo all want to beat but they haven't been able to.

Solid phone. There's no disputing gionee is a well known and bigger company than tecno. Gionee have a bigger market share while tecno are focused on producing low end affordable phones for 3rd world countries. Gionee was established in 2002 and it is one of the top smartphone makers in china. Tecno however was established in 2006. They couldn't get market share in their home country china so they focused on africa and some parts of Latin America. By 2008 tecno started focusing mainly on africa because that is where their market lies. In other words, tecno have stopped their business in China to focus on africa and this is one of the reasons u can't find them on gsmarena.

But putting the gionee m5 (Nigerian version) against the tecno phantom 5 is absurd. It's just like putting the Samsung Galaxy j5 against the phantom 5 just because it is Samsung. Or putting the Nokia XL against the gionee m5 just because it is Nokia. Would u say because Mercedes Benz make premium cars than toyota, then u put a Mercedes Benz A190 against a toyota land cruiser just because it is a Mercedes Benz.
