Senate President Bukola Saraki was in a closed-door meeting with the Service Chiefs of the Nigerian Armed Forces in his office at the National Assembly, yesterday.
The indoor meeting, which lasted for virtually an hour, had the full house of the Security heads and a number of Senators in attendance.

Speaking to the media after the session, the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, disclosed that the meeting was centered on security matters. He maintained that the meeting is highly confidential as it wholly entailed brainstorming on security matters the country is faced with.

While quizzed continually, Ndume insisted that the content of the meeting remains confidential that he couldn’t disclose to anyone. “It will be wrong for me to disclose details of security meeting,” he repeated.

Talking about the satisfaction of the Senate and its newest understanding of national security matters, Ndume stated that the leadership of the Senate is fully pleased with the reports from the service heads.

“We are satisfied because we have never had this type of meeting before. We are part of it now… we know what is the problem. We know what is the solution,” said Ndume.

Meanwhile, the absence of the Senate Committee Chairman on Defence, Senator Ahmad Lawan, from the meeting posed a huge concern.

However, the Senate Leader, when asked about this, said: “we’ve met with the service chiefs and the absence of one member has nothing to do.”

Senators present at the meeting were: Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Senate Leader Ali Ndume, Senator Sola Adeyeye, Chief whip, and Senator Isah Hamma Misau, among others.

It's been so difficult for Ahmed Lawan to see Saraki as the senate president. Guess he believes Saraki will be removed eventually for him to take up the position.
