Mercenaries on the prowl. Directionless youths ready to sell their soul and conscience for a few naira notes while the politicians continue to exploit and subjugate them to a situation of helplessness and hopelessness, thus making them willing tools for their evil intentions and ulterior machinations. Unfortunate!

Labour's grouse with Governor Okorocha are that like an imperial majesty, he has through radio announcement sacked workers and closed down government agencies and parastatals without regard to extant rules and laws guiding such acts which he has trampled upon with impunity. 2. Development of huge appetite for withholding workers salaries across board, including allowances of pensioners. 3. Flouting industrial relations law and laid down due process as evidenced in the brazen suspension of workers in 19 parastatals in the State barely 48 hours after agreeing with NLC to act within confines of the law. 4. Deployment of armed private security men and thugs to chase suspended workers out from their offices resulting in injuries to the workers. 5. Condemnation of serial acts of barbarism by the governor against the workers who voted massively for him during the elections in the hope that he will make life better for them. 6. Condemnation of his continuos arrogance and disrespect for laws and procedure. Demands of NLC from the government are as follows: 1. Recall of all sacked workers with immediate effect. 2. To stop further sack of workers without following laid down procedures for disengaging workers. 3. Withdrawal of all security personnel around the workers except those on normal security surveillance. 4. Immediate stoppage of harassment and intimidation of workers by the governor's private armed militia. Following today's massive street protest by the workers, Governor Okorocha capitulated and was forced to eat the humble pie when he announced the recall of the more than 3,000 workers of the 19 parastatals he suspended from work. Victory for NLC? It is not yet uhuru as the governor may still have some tricks up his sleeves. NLC should be vigilant and ensure that the Resolution signed today between the government and labour in this regard is strictly adhered to and implemented without any exception.

If u know how those guys are gathered and how hard this country is, u will not blame them. With less than 2millions u can get 500 young people to chant solidarity song and make the look like 2million people with camera

I can bet u that 90 percent of those youths are unemployed. They are just hoping for the small hand outs that would be shared to them at the end of the day. Because of the pittance, many of them would sustain injuries at the end of the day

There's something Nigerians fail to understand. The private sector occupies more than 90% of employment in Nigeria. Government employees are barely 1 to 5%. It means at least 70% of the people are not interested in civil service. Another important factor is cultural diversity in Imo State. Orlu zone which comprises majority of the State as well as Okigwe zone are mostly entrepreneurs owning private businesses across the world. The civil service is mostly Owerri zone thing as they are less talented in business. Whatever happens in civil service affects Owerri zone most.

And yet the governor bowed to NLC and recalled the sacked 3000 workers. The governor has been taught how to govern his own state ; what a clown.

@Abagworo,

You blame OWERRI people for the on going uprisings against Gov. Okorocha.

This is just morning.

You correctly recognize Orlu zone as biggest and entrepreneurs in Imo state.

But in four-and-half years, Gov. Okorocha you publicize treated Orlu zone and its principal town as shiiit,
He spent 90% of his development efforts in OWERRI municipal lga.

OWERRI kicks enemy governors with every thing - clergy, laity, traditional rulers, civil servants, its students, market women, etc.
This is just morning.

Okorocha dualized about 4km length of urban roads in Orlu in 2012 and tells the world that he made Orlu a city. Since four years, dust from the many roads not completed in Orlu are rendering people nervous about Rochas Okorocha.

Are you saying that the more than 35km Orlu-Owerri expressway nearing completion is not Okorocha's handiwork? More than 120 schools and 12 new hospitals were built in Orlu zone alone. More than 200km of rural roads were equally done in Orlu zone apart from about 10km dualised road within the town and another 8km ongoing between the town center and Ideato. There are things you cannot cover with lies.

My friend, will you shut up! Shut up for God's sake! Stop lying like this?
Where was 120 schools built by Rochas. Rochas takes an exsiting school,he singles out a classroom block from the whole school and remodels, leaving the rest as they are and you call it a new school? Every person in Imo sees this. Please, you are too old to be lying like this.
Can you list here the complete names of the 12new hospitals built in orlu zone for verification?
Where is 200km road done? Do you even know what is 200kms? If 200kms is done(though I don't know what you mean by done),it will be visible to all. We won't be looking for it.
Youngman,I understand that you must do your masters' bidding, but please do so with consciense.

Abagworo,

Orlu has been under-developed in the last four years.

If not for the following roads feeding dust into the lungs of thousands of people in Orlu - the Old Owerri Road, TESAC-St Joseph Catholic church Road, IMSUTH Road. Morning Star Girls Secondary school Roads, International Market Road. Total of these roads may not be up to 15km. Let Rochas government use asphalt to cover the huge dusts coming from these roads.

Rocha shall be regarded as having conscience after covering those dusty roads with asphalt. Let him remember that tens of thousands of people living along these roads have been breathing dust in the last four years.

Every effort to get Rocha understand the dangers here failed.
