Spokesperson for the Senate Unity Forum, Senator Kabir Marafa, on Sunday, demanded the immediate suspension of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for allegedly creating controversies around the 2016 budget in order to blackmail President Muhammadu Buhari.

Marafa, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on National Identity and National Population, told a group of select journalists in Abuja that, Saraki and his loyalists in the red chamber, were condemning the budget to protest his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

He added that the budget controversies in very logical ways, could be linked to the pending trial of Saraki at the CCT.



The senate president according to him, through the aid of fifth columnists, has been shouting at different times that the budget was missing, doctored, or padded, hence can no longer be passed as earlier planned.

He said,  “Honestly speaking if am to comment on the controversy that has been trailing the 2016 budget in the Senate,  I will say it is all the work of the fifth columnists there.

“We woke up one day and the senate president just came and said there is no budget, that the budget is stolen embarrassing everybody, but the following day the Speaker said his own was not stolen.

“Next, they said the budget is doctored, next they said the budget is padded, next they said there are discrepancies all over the place we knew how they came into the leadership of the National Assembly or the Senate.

“Was it a coincidence that the issue of padding and everything just came up after the supreme court said go and face your trial ?

“Suddenly we started hearing that we cannot pass the budget as we promised because there are discrepancies and so on and so forth.

“In a nutshell, all the noise about the budget are all about this issue of corruption trial or CCT trial that is all, no more no less.”

I am so surprised at people calling an outstanding and applaudable act by the senate blackmail , if I may ask, the issues spotted and raised by the senate are they not real?? We are watching. But they must all know that after their political game in the hallow chamber, a new sheriff is now in town and that Judiciary has waken up from her slumber. No more stalling of corruption cases.

However, If the Senate Committee finds him( Marafa) culpable of any wrong doing, the law should take its course. If as a result senator Marafa feels his right has be infringed upon, let him also approach the court.

Can't wait for march 10th,if saraki is found guilty by the cct,then his game didnt click this time around. He has been good at it,but atimes there's always a devil in d detail,am hoping he will maturely eat the humble pie just like those he has been lording it over in kwara been doing.

Thank God for Saraki, if not for him we will not know that about things like budget padding, inflating prices in the budget e. t. c. Also very interesting is the revelation that the President wants to pay rent in government house.

The budget as presented by Buhari is perfect, Saraki was just making an issue out of a non-issue with the budget - Kabir Marafa (APC).

Meanwhile Mr. Buhari has just sacked the D.G in the budget office for packaging 'a perfect budget' for him.

When will these people stop lying to themselves.
