or
100*16= 1600+ 400(xtra)= 2000-300=1700

ok here is the answer:

4plates gives 1 extra plate so for every 4 plates you will get 500 rupees BUT what you forgot to take in consideration is that for the 4extra plates that you will get, you will collect enough food to sell 1 extra plate, so all together you will sell 21plates=2100rupees minus the 300rupees thats 1800rupees profit
