Akwa Ibom Rerun Election Adjudged Peaceful

Akwa Ibom electio has been termed as the voice of the people. The re-run election into four State House of Assembly seats in Akwa Ibom State has been adjudged peaceful and without any major hitch.

Election observes said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recorded success with its experiment of conducting accreditation and voting simultaneously in the Saturday election.

Election materials arrived voting units early in areas visited by Channels Television.

High turnout was recorded at most areas in Ibesikpo Asutan, Etinan, Obot Akara and Ikot Ekpene Local Government Areas while a few units had less than the registered number.

Voting was concluded by 2:00pm local time at most units across the affected local government areas.

The card readers in polling units visited walked perfectly, with minor complaint at a few units.

Some of the voters said that the procedures from the INEC to the RAC centres were commendable, as materials got to polling units early.

Some said the election was free and fair.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Oron/Udung Uko constituency in the election, Mr Victor Okon, had announced his withdrawal from the election, leaving his Poeples Democratic Party opponent as the only contestant for that constituency.

I thought you were showing the result? Pictures of a moment confirms nothing. And by the way, if you check the front page, you will know that they where violence.

Besides, what's the need of coming out when you know that the law supports thuggery and ballot snashing? Let Akwa ibom continue to remain PDP until electronic voting is allowed

A picture does not tell A THOUSAND WORDS in this case....

Elections are a process.... Not a moment in time captured by a lens.

When there is violence like the case of bayelsa, they will insult him that he is incapable of conducting proper elections now that it is peaceful nobody is commending him. Association of wailers

Stop giving the public wrong info. The electio in Ibesikpo LGA was marred with violence. It all started at Inec's Office where some disgruntled youths attacked the bus carrying sensitive materials. Especially ward 2. In that ward 2, over 7 units was unable to take part in the election because of the illiterates and wayward Akwa Ibom youths who tagged themselves 'Street boys in Politics'. I was one of the official in the election and it was God that saved me yesterday and may God bless the DPO of that Lg in the person of Mr Akpabio. . God will help those ignorant Akwa ibom youths.

Next time use " some way ward Akwa ibom youth" cos set of brainwash youth attack you doesn't mean all youth there are the same... Sorry for the experience, that's the norm in any election in Nigeria, I believe with time, things like that will be of the past.
