Ebuehi is going through medicals at Benfica according to some reports.

I hope, it is a wise move. World cup year, we need him playing regularly.

Nawa for NNF, this akanji guy should have been called up a while ago when he broke into Basel first team at 19. Amazing potential, BVB no just dey buy anybody, I don't understand how this guy wasent called up. worst part is he showed more desire to playing for us than these German&english borns we are chasing, the boy has an awesome match against man united in the UCL

Good news for him with caution. These are Portuguese clubs, I wonder what the transfer fee is that will give us an idea what value has been placed on him and the level of opportunity he will get.

He should have waited till after the World cup possibly if he has a great World cup then his value could go right up. On the other hand he could have a poor one and value goes down.

The club is irrelevant it's the opportunity to play and progress. Better to be first team choice at a lower club than a bench warmer in a top club.

komekn na u they talk this? I find it surprising.. If na Norwich, u no for talk so oh

NFF approached him but it was too late. He had already committed to Switzerland. There was a window where we could have approached him earlier.

Excatly our problem, when he started playing we didn't approach him, when he played a whole season that's when we make a move.

This boy started playing for for the Swiss U19's through to their U21's. Knowing how the Swiss guard closely their age grade teams starting from 2009 when they won the the U17 world cup in Nigeria. They have invested huge sums in youth football and it is gradually paying off (see their FIFA ranking, a real emerging power)
It shouldn't count as a loss to Nigeria when he was never ours in the first place. I think his mother is Swiss, so what are we saying?

there is another Nigerian in Basel ranks presently...named "Okafor" a very good striker....but unfortunately I don't think the Swiss FA gonna let him slip off their fingers

Several swiss junior internationals have played for other countries. The Albanian team has a few former swiss youth for instance.

He is the son of Murphy Akanji and is very proud of his Nigerian heritage. If Nigeria had approached him for a senior cap first, i believe he would have turned out for us.

The case of the Albanians and Kosovo is unique due to the polical situation there. I heard Granit Xhaka applied last year to switch back to his native Kosovo. Even his brother plays for Alabania wanted to switch to their native Kosovo.
My point is that Akanji was not ours in the first place. He was made by the Swiss system and his mother is from the country. He's not an immigrant. He has as much stake in Switzerland as he has in Nigeria.

No doubt, he was made by the swiss system.

Same can be said of Ekong, Balogun, Ebuehi and all the other german boys, we are chasing. Developed by another system.

Our league system should start producing true youth talents, many of the 17/18 year olds in our league are elders claiming youth.

Our youth systems are not very good so we will continue to tap from those developed outside. Even if we had good youth structures, we will still get talent from outside, just like the Moroccans and Algerians.

The 3 players you listed were not in the Dutch and German set up. They never played for their age grade teams. They were developed by private clubs in those countries.

For me, I would only consider it a loss like in the case of Olisadebe, Gloria Alozie, Francis Obikwelu et all who traveled as migrants and nationalized in those countries.
I honestly don't see Akanji as a loss.

Off football, how is madam and my baby?

Bros i enjoyed the game, swift counter attacks from both sides but Akwa was just better. This Akwa team with Ifeanyi Ifeanyi + Sunday faleye+ Victor mboma will be extremely deadly.
Did you notice Kelly kester yesterday, great addition to the midfield

Kester brings steel to the middle and I can't wait for Ifeanyi to join him, would have been great for CHAN. Are u sure Faleye can take the starting shirt from Aniekeme Asuquo #33? That boy is just too fast and skillful.

Seems like Akwa United has really worked on their team with inclusion of some quality player blending with already arrays of stars in their fold. Dont forget they have Gabriel Okechukwu with CHAN Eagles. I have a feeling the team will come alive this season.

As for Rangers, they have a sound coach in Gbenga Ogunbote but instability is their achilles hill. Most of the players that made them tick last 2 seasons are all gone ,except for Christian Madu,Godwin Aguda and Ugwu Uwadiegwu.
