Arsenal Don’t Need Payet, They Have Iwobi
Who Could Be Like Payet In The Future-Thierry Henry

Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry believes the team
presently don’t need West Ham rebel Dmitri Payet as Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi has the potential to be like the French man in a not too distant future.

Payet has gone on strike in his bid to force a
move away from West Ham to Marseille but there are reports that Arsenal could step in and snatch the 29 year old who joined West Ham 18 months ago. A claim manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger has denied.

Henry who works as pundit for Sky Sports
believes Wenger is right when he said Arsenal are in no need for a player like Payet at the moment, citing Iwobi as one player who could play at same level like Payet if given time.

”I don’t think Arsenal need a player like Payet at the moment. They have Iwobi who could be like Payet in few years time, he has been good for Arsenal playing through the middle”, Henry said on Sky Sports.

”Iwobi needs games to fulfill his potentials and
signing a player like Payet could limit his playing
time, and it could spell doom for his development”.

Sometimes we speak as if we have so many talented goalkeepers out there. What club does Ikeme as for sef? We don't have that much talents abound o. If we are waiting for a goal keeper who will face Barça etc we will wait for ages, even our outfield players are struggling to get shirt in their clubs let alone keepers. I don't care what club you play for, can you offer the super eagles what we need. If so, kindly come and showcase your talent. Look closely, most our players don't even play 90mins for their clubs. We need to make do with what we have
Yes Ikeme is playing for championship club with over 15 years experience which is valuable to Eagles.Nobody is waiting for a keeper that w face Brazil or Germany,Enyeama as Enyimba NO 1 has proved us wrong by having a great match against England at 2002 W/C.

Alampasu is young and talented but playing for div 3 w not do him a favour in d super eagles selection,he need to raise his bar to be considered for such huge tasks. If he was ready Rohr w not went for Akpeyi when Ikeme was injured before Algeria match.

On Eagles players not having 90 mins in their various club sides, well i don't know how u arrived at that point coz d present Eagles players are having nice outings with their various clubs and is a plus having players in Man city,Arsenal,Chelsea just to mention a few.

Started following the Eagles passionately (lost my passion now) in 1993. So honestly cant tell if he featured before then or not. However, I know he was also a member of the bronze winning Cairo 91 All African Games team and he also won the Sekou Toure cup with Zamalek that year. I would say he was already an experienced professional before playing for the Eagles

This is not exactly accurate..

Iwobi, Balogun, Ekong, Ikeme, Onazi,Etebo, Moses, Omeruo... 8 of the starting 11 in our last game are regulars at their clubs..

As regards talented keepers, Ikeme, Nwokolor, Alampasu, Francis Uzoho, Emmanuel Daniel.. Some of these keepers are far from being ready but they can understudy Ikeme for the next 5 years.

We have amazing talents abound.. Watching Gent's match at the moment with Samuel Kalu, Ekong and Moses starting..
U nailed it.

Roma Details Away From Recalling Dream
Team VI Ace Sadiq Umar From Loan At Bologna

Owngoalnigeria.com understands that Nigeria Rio 2016 star Sadiq Umar could return to Roma from fellow Serie A side Bologna before the end of the January transfer window as they need him as a back up forward to Edin Dzeko.

Sadiq joined Bologna on a co-ownership deal in
the summer from Roma but has suffered
struggled to get games due to fitness issues, as
he has suffered two injury setback since joining
the team. He recently underwent surgery for an
ankle injury which has kept him out of their
games this year.

Roma are reportedly searching for a back up to
forward Edin Dzeko and Sadiq who had his
breakthrough at the team last season is widely
regarded by the club as a capable replacement if the Bosnian is unavailable.

However the technicalities of his proposed return is still being worked out by both teams with Bologna due some form of compensation from Roma due to the complex nature of their co-ownership arrangements.

Jololo like he is called by friends and associates
was top scorer for Nigeria at the Rio 2016
Olympics where Nigeria won bronze, thanks to his brace against Honduras in the third place tie.

Not making a case for Alampasu, just that how many African goalkeepers are playing in Europe and how many are first team keepers, in due time, time has a way of sorting everyone out anyways

I watched Gent's match against Sporting Charleroi. First game after the winter break. They won 1:0.

Three Nigerians started... Troops Ekong, Simon Moses and Samuel Kalu started.

Samuel Kalu was the man of the match in my opinion. He alternated between both wings and outshined Simon Moses. He roasted defenders on both wings with his pace and skill. He provided the assist for the winning goal. He played 90 minutes but Simon Moses was subbed. If he continues to show that level of ability, it is just a matter of time for him to take Simon Moses place. With this guy and Onyekuru, Nigeria has exciting prospects from the wings to challenge for a spot.

Troops Ekong had a solid game, no real trouble.

Simon Moses had an average game and was subbed.

Watford Coach Walter Mazzari Provides Update On Reports Of Ighalo’s £17m Move To West Brom – At The Moments He Will Travel With The Team

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri insists striker Odion Ighalo will be on the team bus on Friday as the Hornets travel to Bournemouth.

The 27 year-old was linked with a move to West Brom on Thursday in what Is understood to be a fee of around £20 million.

under Quique Sanchez Flores last season but has struggled to recapture his best form in Mazzarri’s side this term.

He has only scored twice this season in all competitions – after notching 17 last term – while the Hornets have struggled for consistency in both their starting line-up and their general Premier League form.

The Nigerian international joined the Hornets on a free transfer from Udinese in 2014 and has scored 39 goals in over 98 appearances. Twenty of those goals helped power Watford to promotion from the Championship to the top-flight in his first season and in 2015 he was English football’s leading scorer with 30 goals.

He signed a new deal with the club last summer having been a £37.5 million target from Chinese outfit Shanghai SIPG with the Baggies also trying to sign him in a player-plus-cash exchange involving Saido Berahino only for that deal to fall through.

The Hornets also turned down a £35million deadline day bid last January from Manchester United – the club Ighalo supported as a boy.

But there is a growing sense at Vicarage Road that a fresh start would suit all parties. Watford’s ruling Pozzo dynasty have also based their business model on scouring the globe for rough diamonds and sel

He said ” At the moment he will travel with the team. When we have a game like this against Bournemouth I don’t want the transfer market to distract my players. They have to be focused on the colour of the Watford shirt.”

Eagles Defender Troost Ekong & Samuel Kalu Make Competitive Debut For Gent Against Charleroi

Super Eagles defender William Troost Ekong has been handed his debut by manager of Gent Hein Vanhaezebrouck as he will start in tonight clash against Charleroi.

Troost Ekong rejoined the team this January after a loan spell in Norway with FK Haugesund, where he rose to the rank of captain of the team and subsequently broke into the senior Nigeria national team.

He will start in a back three alongside Nana Asare and Stefan Mitrovic with Lovre Kalinic starting as the deepest of the four defenders lined up by coach Vanhaezebrouck .

Vanhaezebrouck also handed a competitive debut to new Nigerian recruit Samuel Kalu who joined the team from Slovakian side AS Trencin during the January transfer window.

Kalu starts as a part of a front three comprising of Super Eagles forward Moses Simon, who will start from the left flank as Darko Bjedov is selected to lead the line for Gent.

Meanwhile Super Eagles midfielder Anderson Esiti was named on the bench but there was no place in the match day squad for the other Nigerian at the club Rabiu Ibrahim.

Debut To Remember For Nigerian Pair Troost-Ekong & Kalu As Gent Start 2017 On A Winning Note

Nigerian duo William Troost Ekong and Samuel Kalu both had a debut to remember for Belgian side Gent with the team winning their first game of the year with a 1-0 win over Sporting Charleroi.

They were both on from the start alongside fellow Nigerian Moses Simon, but while they lasted the entire duration of the game, Simon was substituted in the 65th minute.

Kalu on his part provided the assist from which Danijel Milicevic scored the only goal of the game, two minutes after Simon left the pitch.

Ekong was very strong at the rear and played a pivotal role in helping Gent hang on to their slim advantage and pick up three points, as he was timely with his tackles and intervention.

He was also very solid in aerial duels and used his pace to good effect when Charleroi threatened on the break, clearly proving how well he has matured in Norway, where he spent time on loan with FK Haugesund.

Late Strike Rescues Oliseh From First Loss As Coach Of Dutch Side Fortuna Sittard Against 10-Man Telstar

New Coach of struggling Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard maintained his unbeaten start to his reign as coach of the team after a late goal helped them draw 1-1 against Telstar.

Oliseh’s first home game as coach of the team he joined last months didn’t go as planned as his side went a goal down after 32 minutes when Toine Van Huizen put the visitors in front.

The half ended with the visitors holding onto their slim lead even though they were reduced to 10 men when Crescendo Van Berkel was sent off three minutes before the break.

A much changed Fortuna Sittard side emerged from the tunnel in the second half, and dominated their opponents for large spell of the game but still failed to get the goal their dominace deserved.

However just when it seems Oliseh was going to taste his first defeat as manager of the team, Ferry de Regt struck in the 90th minute to bring scores to 1-1.

The point picked help the team move up to 16 on the log in the Dutch second division and enhance their chances of beating the drop to the third division.

Oliseh: Because Of NFF President, They Tried To Kidnap Someone From My Family

Former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Sunday Oliseh has spoken of his experience as coach of the Nigerian National Team.

The newly appointed Fortuna Sittard manager has sensationally revealed that his family almost got into trouble after the Nigeria Football Federation president announced that he was paid six months wages in advance in the wake of his appointment as the Super Eagles coach.

“They were playing political games. Contracts were not fulfilled and it was full of lies,” Oliseh was quoted as saying by Elf Voetbal.

“They tried to abduct someone from my family. There are often kidnappings in Africa. I’m glad nothing happened.”

Oliseh penned a one-and-a-half-year contract with Fortuna Sittard this month.

AIK had wanted to offer the Nigerian a new deal after tallying six goals (four assists) to his name in the last three months of the 2016 season.

The 30-year-old has played for Lyn Oslo, Hoffenheim and Schalke 04.

Obasi’s very good pal, John Obi Mikel, will represent Tianjin Teda in the 2017 season.

CARL IKEME AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME –
LAMBERT

The goalkeeper has been in fine form for Wolves this season, and his coach states that he is carrying them single-handedly through games

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul
Lambert hailed Carl Ikeme as a player at the
height of his game ahead of their English
Championship game against Norwich City.

The Nigerian has kept clean slates in club’s last
three games (Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City
and Aston Villa) - and his manager feels he will
play a big role in their chase for the Championship play-off spot.

“There are a lot of games to go. I don’t know
what’s around the corner – it’s a cliché but we
take one game at a time,” Lambert told club
website.

“At this moment they’re in a good place,
defensively and offensively.

“Allied with the spirit they’ve got with each other and how close they seem to be and the
supporters... it’s an accumulation of everything
and a multitude of things that are going really
well for us.

“Carl Ikeme’s at the top of his game as well, the
lads at the back with Richard (Stearman) and
Danny (Batth) or Mike Williamson and Kortney
Hause, or Dominic Iorfa, or Conor Coady or Matt
Doherty, it’s really strong at the back.
“That’s the secret of it.”

Wolves are 16th in the Championship and are 13 points off the play-off places.
