The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN has adduced reasons there was an increase in electricity tariff, explaining that power generation companies require the increased tariff to be able to meet up with demand for power.

He went on to state that the inability of generation companies to supply power to consumers was as a result of short supply in gas.

The Vice President disclosed this yesterday in his key note address during the maiden edition of the National Forum on the economy, organised by Vintage Press publishers of The Nation Newspaper, themed: ‘ National Economy: The Way Forward’.

“There is no way the GENCOs can supply enough power to consumers without generating enough fund to drive the necessary processes that will bring about adequate power generation and supply,” he declared.

Imagine.... As far as am concerned, there is no justification for increase in tarrif for electricity because we are even yet to use the one we are paying for. May God help us in this country

Thats the simple and honest truth. Now nigerians can choose what to do with it. Either refuse the hike and remain in darkness, or adjust to the new price and get more power for your money

So GENCOs must generate funds at the expense of consumers who are not getting adequate electricity whilst a lot of people are being denied prepaid meters

So Osinbajo want Nigerians to keep paying for darkness? That's unacceptable.

Osinbade,Fashola and co should come and force collect the funds from Nigerians. These mofos should just make fuel available at 40 naira per liter and see if ordinary Nigerians won't disconnect totally from Nepa!

I agree with Osinbajo, we need to pay more on electricity If and only IF fuel will be sold at N20/ltr. we can then subtitute light for Generator at will.
