The people responsible for the formulation continued upholding and surviving on quota system while strangulating and crippling the society are the Hausa Fulani northerners not igbos Yorubas or other minority tribe... Stop spreading the smear...

Do you realize the agitation by the SE for example, for equal representation in political offices despite their political handicap is an agitation in favor of quota system? Didn't we hear cries of marginalization whenever they felt they had not gotten 'their quota' of appointments?

You cannot outrightly condemn the system in one premise, and advocate for it in another. Just as some regions are politically disadvantaged and still seek equal opportunities, other regions also seek equal opportunities despite their disadvantage in certain areas.

God will bless you for me...

Federal character and quota system should be abolished.... It is unfair, retrogressive and archaic. The fact that you're from the north should not blind you with sentiment..... If you open your mind you'll see that it has not help the north. Learning using Arabic or English does not influence much compared to the content of what's being learnt.

This guy is either seriously daft, or is playing to win over the emotional hearts of gullibles from a particular region, for his political advantage.

Does he realize unity schools(only schools where quota system applies) form less than 5% of all the secondary schools in the country?

Does he realize that the system was applied to intervene into the cultural and religious peculiarities of some regions which tend to encourage Arabic education over western, and not because of any intellectual superiority or inferiority?

Does he realize that those who do not want to be affected by the QS have the option of attending other non-unity schools which are over 95% of secondary schools?

As usual, his ignorant victims will swallow his bait, hook, line and sinker.

Thank you. So many bigoted and myopic dunderheads cannot grasp this.

If the system is to be abolished, it must be completely abolished.

for the bolded, that is where I pinch my tent.
Any system devoid of merit or sacrifices merit on altar of quota system will collapse.
It is a question of time, nigeria will be a comatose nation if we continue to operate this quota system.

The other day police officers were promoted, we heard so much cries because northerners dominated the list, as if they don't dominate the service. The complainants were expecting some sort of quota system to be applied so that all regions would be reflected in the promotion exercise.

The point is that quota system is definitely not ideal, however we do not operate in an ideal system either.

If we are to be idealist, then the system should be abolished throughout and no more cries of marginalization from any region should rent the air.

No.
You don't get it.

Northerners depend on quota system for hiring and promotion.
Southerners depend on merit.

Everyone has a story of experienced southerners being subordinated to younger, inexperienced, less qualified Northerners in every government service in Nigeria.

This is the bane of nepotism, ineffiency and mediocrity in public service.

If only you had some measure of sense, you would have known that this Federal Character nonsense applies in all facets of the Nigerian life. Lack of cognitive skills did not also allow you to know that he never alluded to the fact that one ethnic group is superior to another. I also hope you know that when a school is funded by taxpayers money, everyone including Ben Bruce has a right to query the. Guiding principles behind its running regardless of how set in stone the principles are. Meanwhile, when next you are sick, do well to visit a quota system produced doctor, since you are a fan of it

SE agitates for quota only when a worse menace, NEPOTISM comes into play.
Otherwise, both quota and nepotism should be abolished.

Case settled..

Everyone should compete favourably and strongly with each other, with emphasis on the weak..

What ever gains achieved from the fast and strong should be used as surpport for the weak and slow with less or no emphasis on regions /tribes..

And you will see that sky shall open for us all and the agitations for #Biafra shall subside..

This is reality..

I understand that some people might need surport ,but Igbos are paying heavily for this and the whole thing is dragging the country back..

Igbos and every other region can move at a natural pace without hindrance, then we channel a collective energy towards the weak like creating special programs designed carefully to siut there exact challenges..

My dear, they are not suppressing Igbo race, they are suppressing their kids brain- intellectual and competitive ability. Without competition a society wouldn't progress well(Igbo/Yoruba for instance). They serve them certificates on their bed and make them lazy.

Do you think stronger regions are not paying for the Ibos political weakness? You think we'd rather not have all ministerial posts for ourselves?

Until Ibos stop crying about political marginalization, they lack the moral capital to condemn quota system because federal character is also quota system.

Let merit be upheld, and everyone use what they have to get what they want.

Nepotism is only possible with political influence and strength.

If the SE lacks these, then they should stop complaining of nepotism because they are politically weak.

QS if to be abolished, must be abolished completely and no complaints about nepotism should come from the SE because they have been shoved aside by politically stronger regions.
