most of us need to study and understand international economic and politics, some zombies are jubilating that this administration has attracted deals with Chinese government worth $6 billion dollars to develop Nigeria infrastructure and Manufacturing company to diversify the Nigeria economy.

Noted that Nigeria is one of the biggest China exporting country and the Chinese will never jeopardize with any deal that is a threat to their market.

the Chinese knows how to play this type of politics, and they will never implement any deal that has any thing to do with diversifying the Nigeria economy.

2016 and people still have this sort of subservient mentality, i implore you to get your facts right before you feel the need to oppose everything you hear. You speak as if you are an authority on Chinese business activities and relations. Do you know how ignorant this post looks?
I'm all for opposing Government excess, but what exactly are you even opposing here? You officially have become the minister for dumb posts on NL.

Going into that negotiation, China already had the upper hand. It's only natural that they would exploit that to maximum benefits. The degree and extent of the unbalanced deal might not be totally made public.

They "will not developed Nigeria" as your topic suggested because there is nothing like that. Howeve they will assist to develop Nigeria, that is what I'm sure of.

You are very right, MOF, a foreign tabloid expressed the same fear, the outlook is better for China in the long run, China knows that we are running out of FXR which guarantees imports in the first place so it is a two pronged gain for China.
Allow Nigeria to expand their FXR, import from me for the next 10yrs when it will be certain Nigeria will either run out of FXR (worse case scenario) or develop her manufacturing base.
OR
Develop Nigeria's infrastructure, tie down their PPP component for the next 25-30yrs, bros, every idiot will think long term and that is exactly what China is doing, so yes, it is in their interest to help Nigeria to develop her infrastructure, so long as they will be collecting toll on the second Niger bridge till 2041.
On a more cynical flip side, Divesting Nigeria will guarantee a bigger FXR which is what we need to patronize Chinese imports, so either ways you look at it, China is a gainer. Nigeria isn't losing either, if you don't want the bridge or the power plant, who stays in darkness, China?

As alternative looking at the enormous requirement of the sleeping nation called Nigeria what should we do? Maintain the slow status quo or try to solve the situation rapidly so you and I will see a better Nigeria today and not tomorrow?

Well It's that option or the situation we have now? I say we take our chances. If they can invest in Infrastructure, which obviously is not all our infrastructural requirement as a nation.Critical at the moment for Nigeria but definitely not all we need to be a developing nation. Nigeria needs much more and when we get our footing,we could focus development in the new emerging areas of our Infrastructure with newer deals beneficial to us.

It is risky and the Chinese will definitely also want some thing. Its normal that even Nigerians wont develop Nigeria without collecting something in return. We don't have the Muscle and we need help.Nigeria has the potential,is rich with vast areas begging for attention. $6bil is a start and many more deals will be made but we need to start now and perfect later. We need the Chinese initial involvement and if we keep the momentum the Chinese interest will look minute as compared to ours going forward. Our interest would later come to play and we still have alot to do.

I say let them come.Stable power and good roads today does not meaning Nigeria will stop growing. We will grow and today's power and roads will be insufficient tomorrow. Ebonyi or Calabar maybe the next Lagos tomorrow! We just need to have our start and exist plan clearly identified with long term interest.

Why should the Chinese come and develop Nigeria when they still have their own home country to develop?... You are obviously the one exhibiting typical black man mentality of never wanting to do anything for ourselves but expecting others to leave their concerns to come and develop/uplift us.

Nobody developed China but the Chinese; similarly no one would develop Nigeria but the Nigerians. The Chinese are in Nigeria for business and it is left to Nigerians to use their God given brains and hands to scratch out the developmental benefits of the Chinese doing business with Nigeria. Food has never been free anywhere in the world and until the black man realises this, Africa will continue to be the dark continent.

Not totally true. Hong Kong and Taiwan relied on the west. Mainland China relied initially on the west at one time, then Russia and other communist nations After they then took the best of west and east. Exactly what we can do. Try all and draw the best from all options available. We can't develop Nigeria in isolation it won't work.
We have to take between the west, East and others grin It will take centuries to do it alone and some decades to do it with others.

Yeah the point I was trying to make is that those external nations will never leave what they have to do to come and develop Nigeria as a form of charity. They only 'agree' to do business with you (for their own profits), it is then left for Nigeria to make use of the business opportunity to develop itself.

I agree with you on that note. We do need an economic and foreign strategy/policy for our national interest.Particularly in the long term.

grin grin cheesy Abi o! Its always better if they can take something smaller and offer more in return to the populace. After all someone has to take the risk and do it for a fee.Not that i encourage Illegality.

Our problem has always being the likes of Dasuki, Badeh, Metuh, Secondus, Falae etc who illegally use public funds and still shamefully can not show you a viable investment from there loots. Except acquire loots that will make them steal more to remain afloat. Parasitic you may say. Where are the developments or Jobs the stolen wealth has provided? Alot of the looters end up buying expensive houses Or cars that do not provide any real opportunity for others to benefit significantly in the community or economy of the nation.

I ask myself if half of the $2billlion looted was put back into the economy by the culprits to set up manufacturing, refining, power, mining or production companies! How alot of people will be employed and the short term/long term benefits to the communities. It would have being better than cars or luxurious house, where hardly 15 persons benefit. Our stealing elites are so daft and wicked as thieves you don't know what to say.

we wasted too much time...we can not compete with those that started 500years ago to develope...

we have to corner-corner somehow to catch up..

but we have a giant bargaining-chip...
