an accredited 4yr institution in the state??
Or even in your own country..for example can a Nigerian from OAU apply to join as a cadet in the U.S marine??

You cant be a cadet if you are not a citizen. Cadets are usually US citizens attending US military academies (Equivalent of Nigeria's NDA) or ROTC programs in US Universities to become officers. You cant be a cadet but you still have a path to be an officer thou. But you might have to enlist as a non commission officer first

It's limited to US universities.
Ok
So what are the criterias for joining the U.S marine corp as a non citizen??

Please with respect to Nigeria, which of the armed forces; Navy or Airforce, is better to join interms benefits/prestige?

Secondly, with respect to other countries like the US,UK,Germany/Russia, which of the force holds more pedigree?
In Naija, the army is the most prestigious of the armed forces. Not sure about their pay structure.
But in the US, the marines are held in high esteem. Marine boot camp is considered as the toughest (for non-special operations soldiers) in the US military.

You can only join via enlistment. First, you would sit for the ASVAB exam, which is the entry exam for prospective recruits.

Then you'd be shipped off for boot camp, before being sworn-in as a Private - the lowest rank.

I have mad love for the u.s marines
The Nig military makes it very difficult to be enlisted as a military man
You need super connection to pass through
I have plans for Canada and u.s marines

If you are talking about the toughest boot camp, Yeah the Marines. Apart from that, I dont see how is it more prestigious that the Army or the Air-force. This might sound biased but I just cant see it.

To add to what CFCman said, when you enlist and get the lowest rank, you will have a slightly higher pay-grade if you have a college degree(even if it is from overseas) You can choose to be an officer after you get your citizenship thou. The timeline is usually very short if you join the military. Less than a year I think

I'm not in the military, but I once met an Army recruiter, filed some application forms and sat for the ASVAB exam intending to join the Army Reserves. I later jettisoned the idea.

I also interacted with some US military veterans on campus, and in class. They are quite friendly people to chat with.

For the Air force, the prestige comes with flying their billion-dollar jets. I won't deny its a glamorous job though.

Personally, I believe if Nigerian immigrants want to join the US military, they should be committed to permanently residing in the US. At least, that would create a greater sense of dedication to the American cause.

If the goal is to obtain the foreign degree and head back to Nigeria, then I don't see the need to join the US military.

People have different reasons for joining the military. Whichever place you choose to serve, it is always something bigger than you.

You get to learn a lot of things. Good luck and be prepared

True.
I am not sure about non commission officers but certain positions in the officer corps requires like 6 months or notice before you can leave the US and your security checks comes up more often. It can be tedious.

Thanks.

I don't like the Army. Everyone is so into it.

I would prefer Airforce or Navy, atleast for the side benefits (e.g, i heard that as an Airforce officer one could be choose to be a pilot, and as a Naval officer one could train to be a sailor or work as a security operative escorting oil vessels).

Please incase the ''I heard'' part is wrong please let me know.

Thank you

Your career becomes very political after you hit that 6 year mark ( in the air force) I was recruited by another govt agency. I still work with USAF thou but not as an officer.
