The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed revealed that 55 people stole N1.34tr between 2006 and 2013.

The minister made this revelation at the first town hall meeting held in Lagos state on Monday, April 25, 2016.

He said “We launched the campaign in January and we released what some people call a bombshell, that between 2006 and 2013, just 55 people allegedly stole a total of N1.34trn, an amount that is more than one quarter of the 2015 national budget.”

I think that it will be more interesting if the honourable minister told us how much of the money has now been recovered and what it was used for by this government.

I thought this man "Mr Lai Mohammed" has been called to order, for some months he was talking, and even when he talks, he talks with caution, especially the period when he, mis-informed the public that the Nigeria economy is out of President Buhari's control, now he is here again to tell us how 55 people stole 1.5 trillion naira, to me, this is just some distraction strategy adopted by the APC led govt to distrate the masses whenever things are not going in the right direction, No water, No fuel, Air lines are now threaten to leave the country and are charging high fare, Civil servants can not receive their pay as at wen due, too much problem, and finally, the once that where "claimed" to be returned, there are no accountability for them/ how its going to be used to better the lives of Nigerians.

As I write politicians and civil servants are still putting heads together to award phony contracts, security vote is still unaccountable, even pmb does not account for his security vote, govt is still maintains long convoys and fleet of jetsetc

In fact the amount stolen is enough to build six lane high ways to the moon. It is more than the budget of the whole world. We have heard...can we come back to reality and go back to work?
How much revenue have we earned from May 28 2016 to date?........What has happened to our refineries? Why are we having black-outs....When will budget be passed? Hunger in the land.....Fulani Herdmen, fuel queues, non payment of salaries and insecurity...all in 12months! Even the Zombies are getting tired of APC propaganda!

Could it be that Lai and his friends are planning to recover this loot so as to also share it. If you are recovering loots and the economy is almost strangulated for lack of finance to the extent that you are sourcing for external loans, then something is just not in order. We are waiting anxiously for your own version of the game plan of looting.

Like I said, "he is doing his job", that's what the ministry of info is for: to tell you want the gov't wants you to hear. It is up to you employ discernment . . .

OTOH, the article is based on excerpts from the town hall meeting in Lagos yesterday . . . probably in answer to questions asked, they couldn't have asked him about monies recovered or something similar, and you want him to start talking about an act of terror in far away Enugu that have likely not happened, or reported at the time.
Moreover, standard procedure is to approach developing stories with caution, as stories keep changing.
