Flashh: If they encourage safe water transportation, I assure you you won't need this new bridge. If even 20% of Lagosians use waterways, traffic will reduce. 2 Likes |

oduastates: You raised some interesting points and most of these folks are terrible administrator. I think they care more about legacy gigantic projects than actually fixing any problem and Lagos has to be the most disorganised big city in the world and it also lacks a true identity. They have a rail project they're yet to complete and rather than start a next enormous project, without proper brainstorming on how to fix a lot of problems in the state - why not complete that one? These folks just copy projects from everywhere and paste everything on Lagos. Oh, we need a seaport - bam, dump it on Lagos. Oh, Dangote wants a refinery - boom, dump it on Lagos. They just keep dumping everything everywhere lol. Also, can't they build one tunnel, instead of bridges everywhere? 3 Likes |

Another money making venture for Lagos State (Toll gate fee). By the time all of these project are completed, 90% of your net salary after tax would be used to pay toll gates in Lagos State. 1 Like |

oduastates: Although i presume u mean well for the development of oduastates as your moniker suggests but you're totally unaware or ignoring (whichever it is) some very important facts in your assertions. First- Building a 4th mainland bridge is not a wasteful shortsighted approach rather it's the opposite. Although i do agree that decongesting traffic in the metropolis is not a single solution problem as other cushioning measures are needed (e.g efficient public transport amidst other things) but the 4th mainland bridge is definitely a right step in the right direction. If u think lagos is gonna be submerged in less than a 100 yrs, don't u think it's gon be more catastrophe if there's a subway involved considering in Nigeria where there's barely a functional emergency service. This is very opinionated and i do not see it in the same light but without concrete facts yet, I'll let this slide. This is neither a single solution problem but you did raise very interesting and important solutions which can seriously be considered. Kudos Lastly - Constructing a subway if you know the intricacies involved would consume 5 or more times the amout of building that bridge so it's is definitely not a cost cutting measure esp in a previously unplanned and presently overpopulated place like lagos. 6 Likes |

wristbangle:I will never judge Lagos with the same yardstick as other states. I expect better. Tell me where you do not have traffic in lagos? Complete the metro, expand it, build conventional overground rail lines, build bicycle lanes. The same Ketu to Obalende will take you 20 minutes on a bicycle. Problem solved and you so not need to build a bridge every 20 years 1 Like |

oduastates:I get your point about utilizing a multi-modal system of transportation. The 4th mainland bridge won't be solely funded by the state govt; the contractor will also chip in some money. Moreover, the light-rail lines are also going to help with decongesting Lagos roads. 2 Likes |

oduastates especially and headboiy have a good points. While I appreciate the 4th mainland bridge, I think there is also need to try another means of transportation like the light rail. At the end of the day, or let me say in 20,30 years time, we will all see the need to have multiple modes of transportation in a city like Lagos. If the government is serious about free movement of people in the state, it should as well invest heavily in other modes of of transportation else we will continue to have the need to construct bridges. 2 Likes |

oduastates: Guy you are on point, I have bring reading you comments on expanding rather than putting pressure on one lga. Points to support the bigger picture that those that plan the bridge didn't ser. 1. They are not looking to expand other areas of Lagos, which would have made Lagos an all round business hub 2. Developing all other areas of Lagos would reduce pressure on a particular road which increases lifespan of the road and reduce costs of maintenance. 3. it will make oth areas of Lagos to be properly planned with good road network 4. People wi n longer wish to migration back to their states or other states since everywhere of Lagos is a business hub with easy movement and less traffic in the future. *i see other states in t future creating conducive environment for investors in their state their providing jobs. People moving back to their states / other states since you can still get good job with no traffic or less-traffic and stress, low accommodation cost etc. Imagine no people/industries are moving to Ogun gradually... 1 Like |

oduastates: There is a paradigm that your plan would need to change. Companies decentralising their headquarter ops in Lagos island, VI and Ikoyi and creating non punitive career paths for those working outside of the corporate centres of power. The adoption of this and a remote office ethic would significantly and immediately address the travel time/ congestion on the Island. Unfortunately many corporates still operate an industrial revolution " clock on system" to measure productivity and involvement. So unfortunately this expensive solution would appear to be " necessary" |
