The Economic and financial crimes commission(EFFC) recently swooped on Abdurrahman Abba Jimeta, Chief of staff to the Governor of Adamawa state, Muhammadu Jibrilla.

Jimeta was captured over his involvement in a scam amounting to the sum of 2.88 billion naira for the renovation of the popular Yola International hotel. This contract was awarded since the regime of the state's former governor, Murtala Nyako. EFCC has sealed off his properties along Karewa road in the state capital.

Investigations show that the contract for the project was reviewed 3 times. The government had paid a total of N2.664 billion in nine installments remaining a balance of N204 million for the project. A close associate of the detained Jimeta who pleaded anonymity was contacted and when asked about the matter stated that ''Jimeta was only invited to prove ownership of a land in Gombe he bought from one Maliki Jaffaru''.
