Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe at the N.C.N.C political rally, Urualla, 1959. In preparation for the independence of Nigeria, in 1960,three main parties ran in the important Election. The N.C.N.C was led by Azikiwe, The N.P.C was led by Ahmadu Bello while the Action Group was led by Chief Awolowo.
