Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar

The Defence authorities have vowed to arrest those behind the attack on oil installations in the Niger Delta.

The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, told our correspondent on Friday in Abuja that the military was liaising with the relevant security agencies to ensure that the culprits were apprehended.

Abubakar said that while he was not aware of the latest attack on the pipelines liking Kaduna and Warri refineries, the government would liaise with other countries to stop the act.

He said those carrying out the sabotage of the nation’s economy were inflicting injuries on themselves as the country belonged to everybody.

Abubakar said that it was inconceivable for a Nigerian to attack the nation’s economic base and to claim responsibility for it.

The spokesperson said the military would not be deterred in the commitment to perform its responsibilities.”

He said, “Whoever is doing this thing is not above the law and I believe, one day the law will catch up with him, but definitely they are not Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh, has condemned Wednesday’s attack on the facility of Chevron Nigeria Limited by a militia group, the Niger Delta Avengers.

Boroh said the 30,000 ex-militants of the Niger Delta captured under the Amnesty Programme were not part of those who attacked the Chevron Abiteye pipeline.

He called on the security agencies to arrest those behind the attack and bring them to justice.

Boroh told journalists on Friday in Abuja that the attack posed a danger not only to the Niger Delta, but also to the nation’s economy.

He urged youths to desist from the heinous act of pipeline vandalism, which he said was inimical to the environment apart from the fact that it was a crime against the country.

Boroh said, “The attack on the Chevron facility in Delta State is unfortunate and condemnable. It was carried out by some persons who called themselves Niger Delta Avengers. These are not the ex-militants who are captured under the Presidential Amnesty Programme

“All those that are captured under Amnesty Programme are under command; the people who did this are economic saboteurs; the security agents should arrest them and bring them to justice.”

I don't understand what the Mr rabe is saying. What did he meant by "the vandals are not Nigerians" ? If they are not Nigerians then who are they? Jamaicans!!! And the other man named Paul boroh is a clown. Why is he exempting and at the same time exonerating these militants. Ex-militants and the avengers are one and same thing. He should stop deceiving himself. The buhari led administration should unleash all its brutal military force on this militants, whether they repent or not. Amnesty for any criminal group is the greatest undoing any government should do, and even though yar'adua was a peaceful man{may he continue to RIP}, but he really made a big mistake with the amnesty thing.

P.S Buhari shouldn't succumb to any blackmail by any group. He should use brutal force on any group that wants to hold Nigerians and Nigeria at ransom. People were against any kind of negotiations with boko haram which was right. Military clampdown has been unleashed on rampaging herdsmen. The militants are not an exemption from the numerous terrorists groups we have in this country. Buhari should deal with them decisively.

The Niger delta avengers or whatever they call themselves should not be treated as any militant or freedom fighters. They are political criminals and enemies of the state and should be treated as such.

Government should not bother to negotiate with them. They should be treated as terrorist and maximum military force should be applied until they either surrender or get wiped out.

I don't care if they blow up all the country's pipelines in the process and the economy gets affected. For once, let's put a stop to this nonsense. No group of people should be allowed to hold a legitimate government to ransom for silly political reasons.

May God bless you. You hear supposed educated people shouting that the avengers can't not be dealt with. I don't know how they view them in the creeks. But only an unstable mind will think that the military can't deal with the militants. Boko haram can narrate their ordeal to this avengers. Of course we all saw how boko haram madness was only restricted in the northeast by the military, and I guess that is what will happen to this new avengers group

Most people think they can't be dealt with because of the economic implications of an unstable Niger delta region. But fact is, we have to damn the economic consequences and deal with this act of sabotage once and for all. Government cannot be paying over 30000 ex militant huge sums of money monthly only for another set to go about blowing pipelines. If government negotiates with this group again, another group will still come up and the circle goes on and on till every Niger Delta person is on governments payroll. We definitely have to put a stop to this madness now.

Why I see the Niger Delta Avengers as economic terrorist, I subscribe to some of their demand... No: 1, 3, & 9.

Let someone tell Buhary to immediately implement NO 1.

We cannot continue like this.

Most APC leaders and other big men are pretending as if all is well but all is not well with them. Infact, they are dying in silent. Nigerians must speak up against this Military in Democracy government. Things must be done in the right way.

Therefore, we have chosen to start this revolution to free country from these vampires called APC government. We are hereby giving president Buhari two weeks ultimatum to do the following things urgently.

1. Immediate implementation of the report of the 2014 National Conference. Otherwise, this country will break-up forcefully.
2. President Buhari, the DS SSS and Timipre Sylva should apologize to the people of the Niger Delta region and family of Late Chief DSP Alamieyesegha for killing him with intimidation and harassment because of his party affiliation.

3. The ownership of oil blocks must reflect 60% for the oil producing people and 40% for the non-oil producing people.
4. The only Nigerian Maritime University sited in the most appropriate and befitting place Okerenkoko must start the 2015/2016 academic session immediately.

5. The minister of transportation, Mr Rotimi Amechi should apologize to the Ijaws and the entire Niger Delta people for his careless and reckless statement about the siting of the University.

6. The Ogoniland and indeed ll oil polluted lands in the Niger Delta must be cleaned up and compensation be paid to all oil producing communities.

7. Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of IPOB must be released unconditionally as the court said.

8. The Niger Delta Amnesty programme must be well funded and let it continue to run effectively.

9. All APC members that are indicted in any corruption related cases should be made to face trial like the PDP members. Otherwise Buhari should shamefully forget about this nonsense anti-corruption fight.
10. All oil multi-nationals and foreign investors should observe this ultimatum, as their business interest in the country must be first target.

11. A word is enough for the wise.

In addition to tell the Nigeria government that we mean business at as 10:55pm on Saturday the Forcados terminal crude oil export pipeline was blown up by Niger Delta Avengers

The earlier Buhari is advised to diplomatically handle this avengers group, the better for him and the country. The budget was passed yesterday and oil money is expected to fund huge chunks of the President's budget. Without this oil money, there will be no implementation. I believe all the avengers are saying is that Buhari you budgeted 18 billion for the state House in 2016, we too go soon go market, so we need money for our shopping list. Settle them and they leave you alone, form James Bond and watch them make Nigerians wail even louder!

You will be reminded soon why Yaradua decided to offer an amnesty settlement.

You think your army is any match for an armed civilian force?

Common Mai ruwa and Mai gworro apprentice terrorist gave them hell in open desert war fare.

And if you think the world will sit back and allow jihad for oil in the Niger Delta like in 1967 then you are living on west German time.

And you can use google to gather evidence, forward to appropriate quarters that'll listen to you as usual.

Neither sabre rattling nor force will help Buhari. Diplomacy is the key to finding solution/peace in the ND and Nigeria.

Nigeria should transform some parts of the creeks into a cosmopolitan cities like it built Lagos and Abuja.

Nigeria needs to decentralize its operational headquarters.

Administrative headquarters - North

Seat of Government - North Central

Agriculture - North East/Central/West

Heavy industries (Steel, Nuclear etc) - North

Economic Headquarters - South

Financial Capital - West

Trade - South East

Investments - South South

unlike hungry and skiny boko haram boys that gave nigerian army tough time, these are more educated and have sophisticated weapons than boko haram, and to think the nigerian army were complaining that boko haram had more firepower than the army. take a look at some of their weapons and compare them to those of boko haram that had AK47s and RPGs. the president should handle these issue with care now that they are only bombing pipelines and not humans.

I don't know why some people think the Nigerian army cannot withstand the ND avengers, are they more armed than the military? What is their strength in numbers? How many fighter's jet or drones can they deployed? How many gun boat can they afford? If the Nigerian government committed half of the resources they spend in fighting boko haram in confronting them while damning the consequences of such, they will be wipe out in months.
Boko Haram mode of operations is far more complicated than ND, Boko Haram have neighboring to run to or recruit mercenaries and are ready to die for nothing.

Guy it's clear no persons or individual can fight a government and win, but the effect on the economy will be wose than dat of boko haram. They blow up few pipelines and d country is feeling the effect, hw much more if they continue to do this. Buhari should handle it with caution. Force has never been the best way to handle crisis, that's y we have peace n conflict resolution studies as a GST course in the University.
