Even if you decide to port to developer rom, it involves downloading a new rom and wiping your phone. I'd suggest you first update your rom, do a factory reset then if the problem still persists, you can port to developer rom. Porting to developer rom is a bit complicated and there are chances of bricking your phone. You can check the miui forum for steps on how to change rom.

Are you sure? Porting is not complicated,I ported same way I updated to miui 8. Just download the rom and place it in a folder named 'downloaded_rom' in the internal memory of your phone. Then update using the updater app. Thats all.

No sir. Porting from stable to developer rom requires you to download a fastboot rom and then use mi flash to flash your phone. If your are already on developer rom, and you want to update, then the method you mentioned is what is used.

Am telling you what i did, have never used fastboot. Though you might be correct because I had twrp recovery but lost it after flashing.

Exactly what I said. You were not on global stable. You were on developer rom. Twrp is used to flash roms if you don't want to use fastboot method. Hence it was easy for to just download the rom and use updater app. But crossing over from global stable to developer requires you to flash you phone. You might even need to unlock bootloader

The bootloader is not locked that is why you could use twrp. But for newer devices, all bootloaders are locked

Bootloader should not affect switching from global stable to global developer. Where the issue of bootloader exists is switching from Chinese to global roms.

Everything (the font and the miui version) about the screenshot shows its obviously a clone. And you said it runs on MTK chips, right now no MTK chip runs on a clock speed of 2.5ghz as indicated in the screenshot.
