6 Reasons Why Nigerian Universities Don't Attract Foreign Students. by Nobody: 2:01pm On May 09, 2016
it has been known to everybody that most nigerian student study abroad but I dont see people coming from other countries to study in nigeria.
Even those who studied or are studying nigerian local language don't study in nigeria. they prefer schooling in US or UK.
here are the top 7 reasons I suggeat

1.JAMB (Joint Admission Matriculation Board) Exam
This is an exam that everyone who wants to study in nigerian university must write .
Most countries like Ghana, Ivory coast, Benin etc... use WAEC or O'level to admit students but Nigerian universities are not like that
Student studying abroad won't want to go through all this stress.
2. Strike
Every state or federal Universities In Nigeria are all known to go on strike anytime.
strike can delay a four years course to almost 5 or 6 years course ,
Only private universities don't go on strike but not everybody can afford to pay the huge fee. Even some private schools outside nigeria accept lesser fee than some nigerian state Universities.
3.Over population and Quota system
Nigerian universities can not even contain all the nigerian university aspirants talk less of taking some outsiders or foreign students ,
most schools accept more student than their capacity which leads to overpopulated or crowded lecture rooms or auditorium .This may lead to student attention diversion
this makes universities administrative council to fix the total number of student admitted which are mostly occupied by nigerians.
4.Insecurity
insecurity is one of the key factors that chase people away from Nigeria at large
I was chatting with a namibian and she said she'll never come to ibadan because of boko haram. I tried everything possible to convince her but all proved abortive. I told her that only the north east is affected by boko haram insurgency. so people outside believe the whole nigeria is affected by boko haram
this will not attract foreign student rather scare them away .
5.Bribery and Corruption(Runz)
To get admissions in nigerian universities, you need to know someone who can help you (you must have leg). or you should pay someone a huge amount of money to help you in the processing of the admission which does not even guarantee admission.
student who stay abroad can't cope with this.
6. Accommodations
Most universities in nigeria are without hostels which makes student rent some house outside the school campus
The amount at which these houses are rented is very expensive, some might even be more than the total school fees. you have to wake up early and go for commercial transportation which is not really guaranteed.

These are also reasons why private Universities are better than Government Universities.

In private Universities, the above analysis are opposite.
