I copied this from a young man who was inspired by a lady who lost her husband in Kolofata. I felt it should be shared in light of women who lost their husbands to the boko haram insurgency. (pls I edited the original writeup) Excuse me, have you seen my husband? He is a soldier, strong and brave. He has fierce eyes and a bravery of six lions. I hear him calling but can’t see him He told me he will come back bringing me a medal of glory bringing me bitter-sweet tales He promised to often keep in touch has he forgotten? He swore to come for our baby's shower we waited but now the soup is sour If this be a dream, wake me up if this be a piece of theatre, let the act end, stop d drum beating, pause the music and still d dancing on ur departure with your comrades, you all were singing victory songs as you sat at the back of the military wagon. Were you singing victory into your death? You left me just like your comrades had left other women Shame on you all What wrong did we do? Did we marry heroes or horrors? Every day I hear the enemy visited I will ask about mine i prayed God a sign. Today i was told you were coming home I bathed the children we waited with baited breathe rehearsed and failed at welcome speeches I longed for echoes of ur departing victory songs in its place I heard the siren of death I saw your comrades in tears junior clinched to me in fear he asked where is daddy? They showed us a box. What do I tell the children? “Daddy went to fight the dragon and the dragon ate him”. I refuse to accept this, bring my husband back to me! Where is my husband? where is my hero? Let him call my name give me my husband keep the medals soldier husband tell them to keep it I want you you decorate him with medals of what use are they in shoel? Why did I marry a soldier why did I marry a man who chose death over me Now you’re gone protecting the country, who will protect me? Shame on you husband of mine. Shame on you father of my children. What did I do wrong that you took me from my father’s house just to leave me alone? Shame on you soldier. They say you are a hero, no you are a coward. Only a coward leaves his wife & kids to cold hands of an uncertainty world Wake up, tell me how to handle this calamity. After all these gunshots and decoration, the people will go am left eye locked with reality The people u went to defend will never pass by again Why did I marry a soldier? Ever since he (the original writer) wrote this, he hasnt been able to post it till recently because every day he read it tears flowed. dear reader, rather than place all attention on what isn't working right now ;can we for a moment forget all differences in ideologies ,religion or tongue to pay respect to these gallant soldiers and say a brief prayer for these widows and their children. my brothers clamoring for war please read and reconsider its cost. violence doesnt solve it dissolves. |

bigzic: my brother u correct (I was touched also).the price of war is exorbitant, funny enough war solves nothing; d defeated would want vengeance now or later and as such the cycle continues. war's aftermath has and will never b pleasant. |
