The National Association of Nigerian Students, Imo State Chapter, has staged a peaceful protest against the recent hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also referred to as petrol by the Federal Government.

The youths in their numbers took to the streets of Owerri the capital of Imo State, causing heavy gridlock and carrying placards with various inscriptions.

Contrary To Campaign Promises

They expressed their support for the planned strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress against the increase of the price of PMS from 86.50 Naira to 145 Naira per litre.

The Labour union had issued the Federal Government a 4-day ultimatum to revert to the old petrol pump price of 86.50 Naira or risk a nationwide protest.

The ultimatum will expire on Tuesday midnight.

After the Nigerian government announced a new price band of 145 Naira per litre on May 11, the labour union kicked against the increase, saying it will resist it.

According to the protesting students the All Progressives Congress (APC) is delivering what is contrary to their campaign promises as regards the fuel price issue.

Recalling that the APC had promised to reduce the price of petrol to 40 Naira per litre during the campaigns, insisting that the increase was a plot by the Federal Government to cause untold hardship on the Nigerian masses.

The students during the protest also called on the Imo State government to resolve the lingering crisis between the government and Academic Staff Union of Universities, Imo State Chapter which they claimed had kept the Imo State University under lock and key for months, keeping students idle and non-productive.

Who are those protesting,
Do we have medical doctors amongst them;

Do we have the scholars there;

Do we have the bankers there;

Do we have the stakeholders there?

If not, the protest is pointless! cool

Those calling Nigerians out for strike & planning to make the already chaotic situation of Nigeria more chaotic have their ulterior motive.
They are those enjoying the dividend of petroleum subsidy.
The best they will do for the masses is to fight for the fuel to be reduced to "May be" N100 & then we are back to our long queues. Independent marketers will continue to sell at their independent prices of over N145 & the NLC will have nothing to do about it.
The government too will still give excuse of paying subsidy since we have refused to accept subsidy removal.
Who is deceiving who?
If we think PMB is not doing it right, may be we should have tried the continuity of GEJ & by now we would have discovered ourselves.
It is an understatement that we will experience more pain, but I am sure there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Let's agree for once, with subsidy removal & let's see what happens after, if the government will have any other excuse but it's glaring we shall be better off.

Nigerians! Wipe your tears, stop complaining. All of sudden fuel has become #145 per litter. Don't complain further, na d people wey put am there na them comot am. What we should be thinking about now is the way forward. As a matter of fact the national assembly should make law banning all of us from driving cars starting from the president. We all should be riding on animals now. The president can be riding on horse, the vice, donkey, then all of us starting from the senators down to the last person can be riding on Nama now. And they should also remove subsidy on the grasses as in the case of fuel. If u are traveling and rain starts falling, bring out your umbrella and cover both you and your animal. #I just want to make common sense

Well.. Since 97% of Nigerians decided to chose an old man over a peaceful God fearing law abiding leader.. They av got what dey bargained for.. I just pray God gives us the original wailers d strength to carry on and the ones dat bought form later on let God also accept dem and forgive dem their mistakes..
As for Buhari Apc and d rest zombies let God put dem in a condition of severe confusion till dey apologise to we Nigerians and do what's right...
