I know men loves it when their woman is independent and not a burden on them because nobody likes to carry burdens on their shoulders, but seriously why do successful women find it hard to get a spouse of their choice and women with less cash get married within a snap of their finger.Like is this a curse or something?

Case Study: Linda Ikeji
We all know how rich this woman is and we know how much she bought her mansion,to those that doesn't know.Linda Ikeji mansion worths N500m and she's 35years of age and we have never seen her going around with any man, neither have we heard she had clash with her husband like the Tiwa and Tbillz case, and she's as straight as a ruler.

People will say "men are cheats" and they are after the successful women's money and I say "is there no loyal man in life again" it bothers me a lot and discourages me into having a successful life also.

Will these successful women stories not discourage our women growth and how our women think of themselves?

We are Africans not Westerners and Africa is a place that when you get to 30 years of age and you are still single and searching they say "They are following you" and they start taking up heartbreaking rumours like "you used your glory to be successful and that's why you aren't married"

My aunt has a bsc,mba and all of those certificates and she's still single although shes living fine and shes also wealthy, but she doesn't even have one child and she's over 40years of age, almost in her menopause stage of life.

Please what's your contribution to this?

I would like to know from you..Let's Discuss!

Men love women both successful and unsuccessful women, mostly successful ones. The problem is ego, lack of respect and constant attempt to claim equality and public display of such. Nobody likes to hear words like "I made you who you are today remember " "Marrying you was a mistake because we are not of the same class" "You don't tell me what to do, I'm not your kid" etc just at any slightest provocation. So fear of having another man as a wife is what chases us away as you can not easily tell if truly the wealth hasn't gotten into her head until you marry her.

Again I tell you my sister, if thou has passed 35yrs of age. Nobody, witches or wizards is following you. They have all passed you and are causing hold up ahead of you blocking prospective suitor from locating you. At that age, they have already finished work from behind and are sure that the remaining work is in front of you. At this point, the lady is now the one following the witches and wizards.

For me, this is one key issue that we need to address this issue

My questions are:

Is Marriage Compulsory for women?

Truly, If not, Why do we victimize the women who are obviously successful but not married?

Lalatisclala, obinoscopy

These are issues worth discussing in our society!

I think the answer is multifactorial. Successful woman and marriage is not a cause and effect relationship. It is more of a correlation and there is a difference. First, what is success? And, how do we define success? Is it by financial/wealth accumulations, accolades? Career ladder attainment? Let's assume, success is defined by career and financial assets.

The answer is two fold.

1. women differ with regards to marriage successful or non successful.

2. Men & their egos are also to blame. It is virtually a rare breed of men who are confident enough to let the woman be more successful than

The long answer is elaborated below:

To even begin to unravel why there is a correlation between success in women and tendency to either be unmarried or marry late, you have to go deeper into these women's personalities, skills, characteristics etc.

You will find that the same personal traits that allowed them to be successful is similar to or the same trait that allows them to either marry late or remain unmarried. Case in point: myself. I put off getting married and in fact I was not really interested in getting married because I was DRIVEN to succeed and achieve independence first. Something in my personality trait wants to establish and being satisfied with myself first before sharing it with someone else.

In some, this period of self attainment last longer (hence "late" marriage). In others, it is shorter. Even yet, others don't feel same way I do about personal achievement and marriage. And they marry when opportunities present itself. And, that's okay.

Maybe Oprah or Linda Ikeji do NOT want to get married or feel they have to get married?

In an alternate world where Oprah and Ikeji were not wealthy, they probably would have still chosen to remain unmarried (provided society and economical circumstances) does not pressure them to get married.

There are women who are married but wish they were not but had to marry for variety of reasons: economical advantages being one.

There are unsuccessful women who are not married or marry late.

There are successful women who are married plus/minus kids. Case in point: my sister is very successful in her career but juggles her husband and 3 children.

Lastly but not least, MEN are also 50% of the problem. If they can check their egos at the door, perhaps more successful women WHO DESIRE TO BE MARRIED BUT CANNOT FOR LACK OF SUITABLE MEN- can then have choices to marry who and when they want.

I believe though that a lot less women who would be unhappily married if they have the economical means to support themselves especially in developing nations across the world.

I have a dream of a world where women (and men) will marry (should they want to) out of love and their own personal volition, interest and desires devoid of societal pressures, economical disadvantages and other externalities.

Truth be told, its harder for a successful woman to get married, note I said successful not rich, there's a difference.
A successful woman finds it hard to get married simply because she doesn't have time, time for socialising, time for the family, time for kids and all.
TThe notion that men are scared of successfully women is a lie jor, in this day and age, so long as she is not stuck up, guys don't have a problem. the problem is time, you can't serve 2 masters, raising kids is a FULL TIME JOB.

So it's a trade off,

But for a rich woman, inherited riches I mean, who no like better thing. You get a full time wife with cash.

It depends on what compass you view my opinion on the highlighted issues and your definition of pessimism. I view issues (marriage/religion) from an unorthodox point of view and reason in isolation so it's up to you or anyone else to rebuff them with a better argument. Kapisch?

Your dictionary should help you out but a freethinker is anyone who forms their opinion and ideas independently of authority and on the basis of rational reasoning in favour of dogmas and organized religion.

To put in perspective, freethinkers are individuals who assess matters and issues critically and relying on tested and proven facts as opposed to lore tendentiousness, partisanship, dogmas and sectarianism et al.

I don't believe in something coz my parents brought me up as a child to do so or coz majority adopts it as true and without proven evidence of it actuality.
